Of course we don't know who will apply. But I would hope Clint Hill puts his name into the pot - anyone who can work with Joey Barton for more than 3 years must have some trength and he certainly did not let us down as a player. Perhaps with Danny Grainger as assistant.

How many do you get for an average home game,would you call yourselves a big fish in a small pond and in reality be playing higher?

Hardly think we're a 'big fish in a small pond', not when you have the likes of Bradford in our league. However we have a regular home attendance of around 4,500, but we can, and have had average crowds up to around 8,000 in a decent season, with the potential for more, in a decent league.

Holdsworth always covers himself .... i.e. Beech got the players he wanted and I got the sales that keep us strong financially. However, he does no state the reason why Bennett and others did not sign a new contract and how much it would have cost to keep Tanner and Hayden - presumably all who Beech would have wanted to maintain last season's potential.

Good call Cayambe. There must be lots of young promising managers out there but I am way out of touch.

Looking back through our list of ex-players/managers (alive or dead). My choices would be:

1. Alan Ashman.
2. Ian MacFarlane.
3. Bill Shankly.

Stan Ternent was one of our hardest players (sadly never our manager) but is exactly what we need now.

If Stan is not avaiable for the job;

Next choice - Paul Simpson.
First reserve - Nigel Pearson.
