Barnsley Football Club can confirm the departure of First Team Head Coach, Markus Schopp, with immediate effect.
The Club places on record its appreciation for Markus’ efforts and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours.
Chief Executive Officer, Khaled El-Ahmad, said: “On behalf of everyone at Oakwell, I would like to thank Markus for the last few months and wish him well for the next step in his career.
“I would like supporters to know that the process for finding a suitable replacement is underway and we will announce a new appointment in due course.”
Markus Schopp remarked: "I would like to thank all those who have accompanied me in this short but very intense time. It is a pity that our hard work was not reflected in the results. I wish the club all the best for the future and that they will achieve all their goals."
Joseph Laumann will take charge of first team affairs on a temporary basis, starting with Wednesday night’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Derby County.
The Club will not make any further comment at this time.

"Confirm the departure" is a classic vague statement.
Was he sacked ? Pay off due to Schopp.
Did he walk ? Doubt it.
Mutual consent ? How much would Schopp agree to losing ?
A neutral statement prior to a legal battle ?
Anyway he has gone. A mistake to appoint him by Conway as he was clearly out of his depth. My money is on Laumann being given the job after doing well against Derby and Hull (the cheapest option) or a HC known to Ahmad from the Sweden/ Norway/ Denmark/ Finland area (second cheapest option).

Ted says he can’t wait to start his new job as Head Coach Oakwell and has already had some Yorkshire Puddings delivered to his hotel.
Ted, Beard and Roy Kent is just what our club needs.
Weear in for Roy Race from Melchester Rovers as our first signing of the new regime.
Well that's all the money gone to strengthen squad oh i forgot there's our usual fire sale in january
Worst manager we have ever had. Cannot see his 6% win ratio being surpassed ever.
