    Tannadice of old

For anyone interested in this sort of thing, I have two new books out this week, Lifted Over The Turnstiles Volumes 2 and 3: Scottish Football Grounds & Crowds In The Black & White Era. 360 pages each, about 700 never-before-seen photos in total, including some very good shots of Tannadice. (Almost) every ground in Scotland is covered, along with chapters like: Things You Don't See At Football Any More, Dugouts, Floodlights, Segregation at Grounds, Violence at Grounds, Junior/Highland Grounds and English Grounds. There was a wee feature about the books in the United programme on Saturday past.
    Cheers.

Brilliant are you having a book launch?

I'm not doing a formal book launch in Dundee, no.
The DCT building is still shut and doing it in Waterstones would have to be a masks-on sort of thing.
This is what is called a digital launch — it appears to involve me typing a lot.
I recommend the books, though (obviously!) These are pix you won't have seen before, because no one has seen them. They have been stored as negatives, never developed, for half a century or more. I was very pleased to find the detailed photos of the old wooden stand, and the Tannadice pavilion. Looking back at that, compared to the stadium today, shows how far United has come as a club since 1960.
Also have a pic of the wee shop that used to exist half way up the stairs of what is now the Jerry Kerr (you have to be of a certain age to remember it!)
Pix of all the Scottish grounds. I'll perhaps post up a few here to see if you recognise them. Cheers.

I remember the Transfer to Stand bit at the allotment end. You can make out the wooden building to the left of the now Jerry Kerr.
