I heard what I thought was an extraordinary finish to an interview on Radio '4s Today Programme with Keir Starmer.

He was asked "Would Jeremy Corbyn have made a better Prime Minister than Boris Johnson?"

Now given just how low Starmer's opinion is of Boris I was expecting a simple 'Yes' but Starmer started on a list of Johnson's shortcomings.

Interviewer stopped him and asked again "Would Jeremy Corbyn have made a better Prime Minister than Boris Johnson?"

Reply "Of course a Labour Government would be better than a Conservative one"

"Yes but would Corbyn have been a better PM than Johnson?"

After 4 attempts unanswered attempts the interviewer gave up.

This confirms to me just what a car crash of an opposition this lot is. Their leader who worked for Corbyn can't bring himself to just say "Yes of course" More relevant a good part (perhaps the majority) of his own party would rather have the failure that is Corbyn as leader than Starmer and a good part of his own shadow cabinet (perhaps the majority starting with his No. 2) would rather have the failure that is Corbyn than Starmer. You couldn't make it up!

I do wish the interviewer had asked "If you can't answer that can you answer that can you answer. Is Boris Johnson a better PM than Jeremy Corbyn would have been?"
