    The Ashes

England are garbage even the Aussie bowlers are better than our piss weak openers then you have Smith and Labuschange who constantly take the piss with their antics when they leave the ball really puts you off watching.
The only good thing is our fans
Now to our Baggies better put in a better performance than our cricket team

I'm afraid that Burns is a walking wicket. Needs to be left out for the next test and Bairstowe to replace him.

Agree Burns needs to be dropped. As you say a walking wicket and not a great fielder either. Just not international class. Would give Crawley a chance ... maybe Bairstow.

It’s a poor performance all round. Buttler as wicketkeeper shouldn’t happen, pick the best English wicketkeeper, a specialist. Always pick the best players for the jobs in hand.

I’ve said on here for two years that Burns is rubbish.

If you need to look to square leg the second before a bowler delivers like Burns does to “keep your eyes level” then you have a serious problem.

Class is very obvious in a player, the ability at international level is also very obvious very quickly.

Burns hasn’t got this, neither has Malan nor Leach but they keep sticking with them.

I doubt if Hameed has it either, his repotoire of shots seems to be too limited.

I’m sick to death of Buttler as well, this wet lettuce has no backbone and grit.

'Would give Crawley a chance' That sentence just confirms the real problem which is England's batsmen just aren't good enough. If you take away his score of 267 then he is averaging 18. Indeed Root apart the top 7 are averaging around 20 for 2021. The established 'stars' Buttler, Bairstow, Stokes just seem to be getting worse and the youngsters Hameed, Crawley, Pope, Lawrence flatter to deceive.

Does anyone think we can select a top 7 to win The Ashes?

I question Woakes place in the side as one of our best 4 bowlers. He averages 50+ with the ball in Aus. I reckon we pick him because he can bat a bit. Just another case of muddled thinking.

Its hard to criticise just one player when as a team we've been so bad. But Burns really hasn't offered us anything. He should have left that ball today on length. He's not dug in for a few overs in 3 innings so far, he's dropped dollies and he overthrew a few today too.

But you're right, you can question quite a few of them. Hameed's shot today? How poor was that for an opener trying to survive the final hour of play.

And you're also right in who can come in for these top 7? Crawley looks nice on the eye, but plays at too much he should leave alone. The only possible change I might make is Bairstow for Burns at the top of the order. After that I'm struggling.

I feel for the bowlers, they have at least put hard yards in and haven't had the rub of the green, nor been backed up in the field.

We are all of us making a case for others to be included on the basis they can't possibly be any worse than those playing. Sad state of affairs similar to that of The Albion and goal scorers.

I also still question Root as captain. Great batsman yes .. but poor captain IMO. We look a different prospect in the one-dayers with Morgan as Captain .... and with largely the same group of players. But who should be the Test captain ... Stokes? I also think Silverwood should be served notice .... far too cosy with the players and his Test record is abysmal.

I also don’t think this Australia side are a great team .... a couple of class batters in Smith and Labuschagne .... and a decent pace attack ... but not world beaters at Test cricket.

Same pattern again. Poor start, Root and Malan get us into a decent position. They both get out and we collapse like a pack of cards. We're now relying on a half fit Stokes and Woakes. Not looking good again!
