    All is not Lost

George Miller is being recalled from his loan spell at Walsall , "The Marquee signing " has been in prolific goalscoring form for the Saddlers this season !,trouble is the lad doesn't want to come back here , he's enjoying his time in the Midlands ,

Well that's where we are as a club unfortunately and I'd suggest we all get used to it .

Once relegation is confirmed and the huge hit on our finances this is pretty much how we are going to go about it in league one .

Miller , Aitchinson and Kane will be given the opportunity at the lower level .

Collins , Andersen , Helik , Styles and Woodrow will be sold for what ever money we can get which won't be great and unlikely to even make up for the loss of Sky tv revenue and the 50% hit on ST takeup .

Those empty seats last night were an indication of what's coming down the road in league one next season .

A cringeworthy sight , covid or not and on sky .

The model won't change of course , they'll be no thought given to recruiting the older player on a free , the smart bargain recruit who can do an excellent job in league one .

Under this lot Adam Hammill would only have had one spell at this club .

This lots used up their only asset , lady luck and she won't be visiting us anytime soon either .

Still financially sustainable half way up league one is the new success .

I'm off the fence now , we won't see the championship again until this lot either sell up and feck off or change policy .

I didn't bother coming over for the match last night Animal. Foggy forecast, COVID and tripe football; it didn't seem worth it. What would your estimate of the Barnsley crowd be last night?

It looked about five thousand to me Arby with 1500 from the West Midlands .

Certainly looked under seven thousand all told .

It compared to the first round of the FA cup against Notts County under Stendel in the home areas which came in at five thousand that day .

The thing is not many in league one will bring 1500 other than local or bigger clubs .

They've shot it here Arby , absolutely shot it and once you lose the support here it takes some getting back .

The faithful five thousand is all that's left .

It certainly sounds like it Animal. Didn't see the game at all but I think the stats do tell a story. I won't have a season ticket next season; I may watch matches on TV. If Cryne had still been here and we were in this position, it definitely wouldn't have bothered me as much. I've always enjoyed watching us in league one, and I do like the teams that are in there.
I just don't like the whole persona of the club now. It doesn't portray the town well.
I think other people are also probably like me in that they've now seen life differently due to all the issues we've had with COVID and now realise, even more, that time is precious so they're going to use it wisely.

Something's defiantly changed within our current support Arby .

Normally speaking it's just the Johnny Come Lately's who go back to going to Meadowhall on a Saturday afternoon .

What I'm reading across the clubs social media platforms is that it's supporters such as yourself , SB and Roma who have had enough .

Fans who have supported this club through thick and thin for over 50 years and the rest .

Folk who've had a ST for donkeys years .

Even Eric Winstanley's son on bbs isn't renewing next season for example .

That's a significant shift and in reality it may be the younger generation who remain because possibly football today is all they know and the consortium doesn't really bother them like it does with supporters of our age .

I wouldn't say that's a one size fits all view but there's little doubt in my mind our generation is the most pyssed off of all the generations who follow this club .

That's a real concern too because this club has one of the oldest by age fanbases of any club in the country , something Pat Cryne alluded to a few years ago .

Maybe we're all becoming grumpy old men Animal lol. To be fair, I am a positive person in general and normally I'd pick the good out of a relegation season .I think it was Hodger that said on here that when he'd retired he'd always intended to travel around all the league grounds to watch a match ( not necessarily involving Barnsley). It's something that I had also intended to do. But now that retirement is here at the end of December, I think it's unlikely I'll do this for similar reasons that Hodger said at the time. Football's not what it used to be; I think you've hit the nail firmly on the head when you say that football, the way it is now, is all that young fans have known and therefore, they'll probably stick with it.
Interesting to hear that Winny's son isn't renewing.

Andy White has announced on BBS the Official Attendance to be 12,086 with 1096 from WBA but even he, as a club media employee, admits it was more like 7000.

BFC will seek income by claiming to sponsors and advertisers that over 12,000 see or hear their advertising at ooam games. Isn't this misleading at best ?

Whilst fans are staying away because of the owners & the awful form this season I do think that last night was a unique set of circumstances , it was mad Friday , it was on TV , covid passes were introduced for admission , the buses were on strike & it was an awfully cold / foggy night , put all those five ingredients together not forgetting that the game had been moved to a friday night then the crowd was always going to take a hit .
