Nigeria have just confirmed he will not be in there squad for the AFCON. He was due to be part of it but they claim Watford basically will not allow him to travel with them and play the tournament.
I think this is a complete disgrace. Why English clubs think they can do this sort of thing and downgrade a competition which to the Africans is as big as the euros to us is embarrassing.
It's bad enough for friendlies but sometimes understandable but to stop one of Nigeria's main players playing in a major tournament for them is just wrong.
Let's hope other Prem clubs don't start joinging in. If they do hopefully something will get done about it. Don't sign African players if you can't handle them playing for there countries simple.

That must be devastating and unsettling for the player. It has to be every player's ambition to represent his country and to debase the player, as well as the country like this, should be penalised heavily by the international authorities.

We’ve had players unavailable for that tournament before, not so much recently but definitely a few in the more medium term past.

now Sly Sports are saying that the country didnt submit the official application to release the player within the time frame. If thats the case, fo0k em. The club have every right to reject
