Why do we keep losing so many of our promising youngsters to other clubs? Is it the lure and glamour of a big name club, finance, agents, parents or what? It can't be the prospect of breaking into the senior side because surely these youngsters have more of a chance of playing first team football at Albion than these so called big clubs. Are we doing something wrong? It can't be the coaching or these clubs wouldn't be interested in so many of our youngsters.

I'm no lawyer, but my guess is that we can't tie down young players contractually. I would think, though, that we are not being creative enough in other areas. By definition, pro footballers are ambitious, so a clear and precise route to the First Team squad puts the onus back on them to perform. In part, this may help when big clubs come knocking. I would also add that VI was specifically tasked with linking the Academy to the First Team. Something he and his predecessors have failed to do

I guess we will always lose some of our young lads to bigger clubs. Arsenal have lost many youngsters over the years due to their inabilities. Gnabry, Malen etc.

As long as we’re promoting one or two a year it’s worth it’s weight in gold. What would we say the value of TGH and O’Shea would be? Gotta be £15m with the potential to double in time.
