Potential players for next season !

Ok some may say I am jumping the gun ? but there is no way we are not going to get promoted !

Warne says he wants to sign Grigg for next season ? to me that’s a NO, NO ! Why ? because if we signed him that would probably be our full quota of strikers for the season. With Kelly, JJ, at least one of Freddie or Smithy we would have our four strikers ! They would not be good enough to keep us up ! We run with three of them last season and got relegated.

We really need to add another striker who has genuine pace, that’s our weakness ? and needs addressing for survival !

The second area that needs strengthening is the left side centre back, it’s so important to have a left footer there ? we saw at Plymouth how Mattock was feeding the balls down the line and looking a lot more balanced with him in there ? the only problem was when they started passing balls down the channel’s and he was woefully short of pace and had to be replaced, so yes a younger fitter version of Mattock.

The third area that needs improving is midfield, yes, we need a leader in there for example Bannon,Pritchard, Lulongo,Morsey etc, not only a leader but somebody who can score some match winners when we are under the cosh, I think Lindsay will move on and maybe one or two more ie Miller, Chieo, Icky, maybe who knows ?

I have seen some very good players this season in Division 1 including Colby Bishop, Scott Twine,Afoylan,Curtiss and the other winger for Portsmouth, two centre backs for Accrington, Nottingham and the other big lad, Greg Leigh for Morecambe at left wing back, Fossey on loan at Bolton right wing back, the two Plymouth players Hardie and the midfielder who both have pace and run at the opposition with pace ! all of these would improve the team for next season ? but how many are in out price range ?

We had Fossey on trial in preseason and Warne obviously decided he was no better than what we'd got.

I'd like to see us pursue Stockton from Morecambe. He's got the right physique and eye for goal that we need from a player to play alongside Smudge.

    Old ground is this debate

A new player of any quality is going to want wages much greater than we currently pay to any individual

A pot of cash that currently pays a squad of 30 would only fund 15 Championship quality players

Senior management ar RUFC have a lot of financial juggling to do

PW has said before that within 48 hours of getting promotion then the reality dawns on how difficult it is to assemble a squad to be able to compete in the cship.
The fans love it all summer but it's a difficult few months for him
Lists of players who he wants but they either don't want to come to the NYS for a relegation battle all season or want 4 x the terms on offer or both

I would definitely be looking at that lad on loan at Mansfield from Newcastle.I think we have to up our loan signings couple of old heads that’s been and done it at a higher level.

Matty Longstaff? I still can't believe he dropped to league two.

He may have been too similar to Chieo but as It stands he is out of contract at the end of the season and Fossey who might have improved with game time this season ? might be a possible replacement ? he is certainly revered at Bolton ?

Agree definite no re. Grigg looks like Ladapo will be gone. Not sure if Kayode will be up to championship level. So need 2 forwards in. It's up to recruitment to find them players with some experience on the way up.

Old ground it may be but it’s got to happen ? We have to make the recruitment of at least 5 new player ? what I’m saying is what players have we seen this season that we would like to sign ? I think most of the players would be in our price brackets apart from the Bannons, Morseys etc .
It’s my firm belief we have to mainly recruit from division one because 1 they are in our price range ? 2 We have played all these teams this season and will have watched all of these players ! 3 Any-players from division two or none league would be a bigger gamble ?
The other two areas of recruitment are 1 abroad, 2 premier league loans or drop outs ?
