    International Women's Day

Today is International Women's Day and a day where we celebrate the achievements of women around the world, has anybody got a heroine in particular or is it just all a bit of faf and not worth bothering with?
So much for equal rights if they want a day dedicated to them, they've already got Mother's Day after all

Regarding Mothers Day (which was originally some church thing I think), I think men felt so left out that they made up a fathers day to make it fair, or it might have been the card companies.

I suppose I shouldn't say this but I find Women's Day rather patronising I don't want male heroes or female heroes just heroes.

You are correct in thinking that Mother's Day was originally a religious event Bumble, the 'mother' is the mother church when you went to pray and give thanks once a year and probably highjacked by Hallmark or the Americans or summat and I concur that there should just be hero's and *** shouldn't matter,if you love your mum you should show it more than once a year with a box of Thornton's and a card from Asda
