    Time Added On

Why is it becoming increasingly regular to have up to 8 mins and over during the time added on period of a match?
And why is it that its the second half that has the most time added on?

Players are allowed to abuse the system with time wasting 'injuries'. Second half because that's when the game becomes more desperate, hence more play acting.

2nd half has most minutes added on because that is when most substitutions are made and I believe its 30 seconds per substitution so if both teams make all 3 subs, which usually happens, then it's at least 3 mins added on plus any goals scored, again I believe 30 seconds per goal, plus any injuries and trainer on, plus any supporter running onto the pitch and kicking the ball off the penalty spot......etc......etc. UTM

All good points Ronners , but apart from more substitutions all the other stuff has gone on for years. It just seems to have increased the last couple of seasons.

Wycombe commentary said the last game they played the ball was only in play for 32 minutes. Out of the 96 minutes played. Not good value for money on that footing

You are right Lincs, all the other stuff has gone on for years, but MillersTime makes a good point about how now players are feigning injury more in 2nd half as the game gets more desperate and their team are trying to hold on to the lead or just hold out for a point, so any contact however light enables them to stay down and bring the trainer on. It’s not wasting time as such, the tactic is there to break up the flow of the game, not letting the opposition play flowing football

Wycombe are very good at it

One thing what stood out was how far Wycombe pinched taking throw ins, we tried it and Ref sent us back...cheeky sod.

The laws are designed now to give teams like Wycombe a freebie when it comes to feigning injuries, especially head injuries. Clear example was WBA "pen" friday night which got them back in the game. Replays show that Mowatt didn't get touched but fell down holding his head and Ref bought it. Cheating at its best.

perhaps introducing some retro punishment might stop at least some of it
