Notts travel to Edgeley Park this evening for a tilt at the current leaders of the National League. The Hatters are on a remarkable run of form and the Magpies will need to be at their absolute best to be in with a shout of bringing home any of the points.

With multiple players out through injury or illness a somewhat makeshift matchday squad is likely for the 'Pies and we hope that those given a rare chance to shine will come up with the goods.

Team news is expected around 6:45pm and the BBC Radio Nottingham commentary from the inimitable Charlie and Stall is available here as well as on BBC Sounds and the EFL app.

Whoever did the airbrushing on that shot of Edgeley Park did a good job. It didn't look that shiny and bright last time I was there!

I thought that too, hence choosing this 'impressionist' version

What a shambles they were at ML, and how they’ve improved since they got a proper manager in. Another one in the ledger against the ‘changing the manager doesn’t work’ brigade.

It’s not sacking the manager that matters, it’s who you get in !!

That ledger needs all the names it can get, it's swamped!

Oh it matters BFP we've sacked too many and as Davy500 will tell you, after we lose a game we traditionally don't appoint better.

Up to 28th December, the highest Stockport had been all season was 8th!!! They were seven points behind Notts in mid-November.

Exactly. We all know that constantly sacking managers rarely leads to success, but replacing them with poor ones is no better.

It's always a difficult decision, and for me the jury is still out on whether we've got this one right.

A current form table based on the last 11 games - a quarter of the season - makes for pretty grim reading. We are 12th having picked up 16 points. Stockport top having collected 31 points, just 1 point short of double the amount Notts have managed in their last 11. Surprisingly Chesterfield are only 1 place and 1 point better off than Notts.
