I don’t want your style of football back here but I would take you back any day as a bloke with passion. You got the best out some of our lads, they haven’t been the same since.

    Good luck val

I did want his football back here & I was gutted that we did not move for him when West Brom got shut, I doubt he would have saved us this season but I would go into next season confident that we would be pushing for a quick return , I wish him well in his new venture & hope it goes well

    It’s personal taste shads
I hated hoofball you can watch that in Sunday pub leagues. However my view of those tactics was solely via tv I don’t go to oakwell under this ownership, so I’m prepared to listen favourably to those that attend and found it entertaining. Just my view mind.

We were only allowed to watch the play off match against Swansea live so I like you only saw the games on tv which I admit is not the best way to view a game, but what I liked was that we came alive where it mattered in the last third & actually played some good stuff, the pressing was great & I can imagine the a full Ponty end would have loved it when the lads were battling to get the ball back , we have always got behind players who put a shift in & we have always loved a tackle as opposed to life under Schopp which yielded slow pedestrian football getting nowhere & resulting in our worst scoring record in history & this with more or less 80% of the same players Val had but I respect your opinion & that is what it is all about , opinions mate .

    Agree.
I watched every match last season.
It wasn’t football as we know it - and at times it reminded me more of a toe to toe boxing match.
It could be very frustrating at times as short 5 yard passes would often go astray.
But - it was exciting - and the one touch football was brilliant.
And importantly - it was a winning style.

A winning style - the main ingredients of which should have continued this season - adding more players that could play that style.
IMO - if it had been - we would have been top 6 again instead of bottom 3.

I am not sure we would have made top 6 but I firmly believe we would not be in the mess we are now if Val had been at the helm & I agree with you it was a winning style but we move on, unfortunately this season we have gone backwards football wise , we have not got the quality of players to play decent football & we have gone from a turgid inept style under Schopp to a largely defensive style to grind out the results we need under Poya , both have contributed to make this one of worst seasons in our memory & of course these two Head Coaches are a product of the failed men in suits from the corridors of power at Oakwell , a far cry from the heady days of last season under Val .

Well - now might be the time to post what you would have done after last season.

So we lose the manager and the captain.
In other words - the club has taken a massive hit during the close session.
Under those circumstances would any reasonable owner throw anymore changes into the mix ???
    NOT A CHANCE.

So you tell the next manager to continue in the same vain - and if there is a change in playing style then that has to be done gradually through the season.

    Then to the players.
Replace Mowatt with a similar midfield general.

And replace Dike with another couple of strong target strikers.

The rest of the signings are just add on’s to make the team even stronger.

And other than Obbi - then those signings - especially if Quina and Bassi were here from the start - would see Barnsley not in the top 6 but in the top 4 by the end of the season.
