I watched a Netflix documentary last night called “Game Changers”.
Very interesting, I’m definitely going to try a more plant based diet, the meat and fish substitutes now available certainly seem very tasty according to the athletes and general public who moved onto them.
Anyone on a veggie or vegan diet?
Made the move to more plant based years ago for health reasons and made a big difference.
Still eat Fish for Omega3
Not a fan of the meat substitutes as it’s too processed for me and has chemicals that you don’t expect to keep in your kitchen.
Eat proper food, nothing man made, not too much, mainly plants as they say
When you go to the supermarket pretend you granny is with you, and if she does not recognise it then don’t buy it.
They dont need to put labels on Brocolli - says it all really
I was a veggie for about 13 years. Although I have been lapsed for some time there is still very little meat in my diet. I just don’t fancy it
I was veggie for a while, had two goes at actually, but have gone back to some meat. There are some veggie foods which are really nice but others that are not; veggie ‘bacon’ is horrible and the sausages are almost as bad. Veggie ‘fish fingers’ are tasteless. It was the ‘bacon’ that I tried in a sandwich that sent me back to the real thing, I do like a bacon buttie! One of my favourites these days is a good quality pork chop with ‘bubble & squeak’, made with mashed spuds, cabbage, leeks, sprouts and carrots; basic but very tasty!
You can’t beat home made Bubble & Squake Kets!
Especially with a dollop of brown or fruity sauce on top.
I used to love home made rissoles as well, my mum was a crap cook but made amazing rissoles.
I used to like them as minced lamb and potato patty’s or better still with corned beef and onion with the mashed potato and then dusted with flour before being fried until both sides were crispy.
You’ve given me a craving for B & S so I’m going to get the wife to cook up a load of veg!
Remember fried slices?
White bread fried on both sides until golden brown and then lathered in sauce!
Three slices of that was breakfast for most of my schooldays.
Bloody delicious.
We go meat free every now and again but I have to say those supermarket alarms are bloody irritating........
Although we don't eat a lot of meat these days and do have a lot of both fruit and veg in our diet I could never go complete veggie myself as I would miss the odd bacon sarnie or summer bbq burger too much! We also eat a fair amount of fresh fish which seems to be going out of fashion these days-probably because people can't be bothered with the bones?
