The club's new clothes (from 'Hans Christian Andersen') sung by Danny Kaye

When I called it at the final whistle of our Barrow away match on 19th March ("We are safe now on 43 points") there was euphoria, disaster had been averted. Since Paul Simpson signed a 3 year contract on Wednesday there have been ongoing multiple orgasms all over Cumbria. The future is bright, the future is blue, the future is bright blue.

It may well be that Paul Simpson can make some sort of purse out of shit but let's consider the absolute fundamentals. It is clear that Philip Day wants his (Purepay) £2.7+ million back and he has 2 routes by which to get it.

Furthermore, the club makes substantial annual trading losses and whilst the current ownership is in place none of Cumbria's biggest / best businesses will provide any revenue by means of advertising / sponsorship / and free goods / services etc.

When a company's assets and liabilities resolve to a negative figure and that company also routinely makes annual trading losses it is insolvent. Carlisle United 1921 is existing solely by the good grace of Philip Day's Purepay. If he wakes up in a morning having not had a good shag then by the end of that day Carlisle United 1921 can be insolvent and cease to exist.

So, given the incredible view of the club held by nearly everyone since Wednesday I seem to be the only person who sees the simple truth. I am the little lad in the song.

'This football club is altogether, it's altogether, it's altogether,
The most remarkable football club that I have ever seen,
These eyes of mine at once determine,
The club is solvent and it is earnin',
The kit is blue and the pitch it is a lovely shade of green'
