The Metroplitan Police Are Doing A Great Job For Boris Johnson

There have now been 100 notices of fines issued to Downing Street partygoers. But the Metropolitan Police are doing a great job for Boris Johnson. Of course if they did not issue a notice of fine to Boris Johnson they would lose all credibility. But if they issued a dozen to him it would probably lead to the Tory MPs deciding to submit at least 54 Letters Of No Confidence to the Chairman Of The 1922 Committee and the Met would have played a part in deposing a Prime Minister.

So, the solution to the Met's dilemma was to issue just one notice of fine and that one relating to the least egregious of all his party attendances. The calculation was that the public would be satisfied and Boris Johnson would be able to even minimise (lie about) his degree of participation in that party, such that he could persuade the 358 Tory MPS to remain supportive of him, or at least 355 of them would not send Letters.

The Metropolitan Police are doing a great job for Boris Johnson.

Meanwhile the Tory Attack Unit can find fuck all at Hartlepool other than a pizza / curry on one occasion.
