Now its decision time, will you renew or not ?

On the poll , i opted for , waiting to be persuaded.

Since then there has been a shift in the public face of the club running , but its not clear if this means the owners are still the owners. If they are how much behind the scenes influence the will have.

We still seem to be looking to develop young players with the aim of selling on which is fine, with a balance of experience and quality , unless I have missed something, there hasn't really been any clear statement of intent of change of direction, in fact very little. Perhaps a little harsh to suggest that rearranging the deck chairs wont save the titanic but that is kind of how it feels at the moment. At least we are looking at manager who know our game but will they be in control of recuitment or be given a set of prospects to make a team from.

Convince me ... it really is 50/50

    We are in good hands.
I’m certain there are exciting times ahead.
The only question is - how far away are the good times?
We may have to endure a season or two of upheaval before the good times arrive.
On the other hand things could be good right from the start.

I'm not renewing. But my disillusionment goes at bit further than BFC and I now have other priorities. However, I tend to agree with Nudge. Things are sounding more promising but there probably won't be any instant fixes. Seeing Lee and Conway marginalised has to be positive although I'd rather they were gone altogether.

The clubs philosophy remains the same with a couple of much needed tweaks. What looks much clearer to me and a vast improvement is that the people involved in running the club are much more honest and have asked the fans to put trust in them over time. No bullshyte or gimmicks as Conway used to dish out in abundance, just straight talk. I believe that will convince many to renew.

The financial position that we find ourselves in dictates things somewhat. Bringing in a wow factor manager costs money, this is money that the club clearly doesn't have. Yes, most of us would like an Alan Clarke mk 2 type of appointment, a serious show of ambition but it ain't happening and I can understand and appreciate that. It's all about stability now.

@animal - are you a ST holder or ex ST holder ?
YN - What really grates on me is that when ever we build anything to get behind, we sell up and have to start again, there is no concept of building on success because anything successful is gone is a flash. I'm still bitter about the Hourahane / Roberts / Mawson / Watkins and co .. team that got us promoted in 2016 then were cashed in. We followed that up with another side that the same thing happened. The new owners promised that we would be able to retain talent and grow organically. Sounded good but we know what the truth was now. I just cannot see what there is to get excited about if we find a striker that puts 6 goals in before XMAS he will be gone in January along with the manager.

    You renewed? Really….?
I hope you guys who renew get rewarded….. not my intention to say you will be wrong……
Your choice,….. but will things change whilst 6, or 7 k renew after FAILURE, AND DERELICTION of leadership? …

My god…. what do the owners have to do to get you to back off.?

@jules88 to be honest it’s not really the football I am invested in but the folk I sit with who I know renewed a long time ago. If I lose my seat now I might not get it back. I suspect I would.but that not guaranteed should Barnsley actually have a good season, I have often over the years thought Barnsley’s best seasons that I have witnessed have been in L1 where we have been more competitive.

I know it rings hollow and it might well be but if we have a stinker and things look dire end of next season …… ah well let’s see what happens but I’ll be asking the Mrs to hide my cards.

I DO hope we have a great season next year, I hope your faith is rewarded massively and respect you for your renewing . I hope the wind of change happens, and you see good football, I still love the club, and will never stop, but I am not spending top money until they folk in charge show ambition. I’ve seen nowt so far to suggest there’s a hunger from the people in charge……. Last nights “Spitting image” show made me even more convinced that the board change is a scam.

Most posters on here are single ticket purchasers, nearly £700 is a lot to fork out at the moment for two of us on (as SB says) a product we suspect is dodgy.

    Hope I’m proved wrong
