    The Elusive Henry Mauriss

Apparently there is an article about just how close he came to buying us in The Athletic. Don't subscribe but the word is it was a scary attempt that could have screwed us right over.
A leveraged takeover with loans etc and relegation penalties. If anyone subscribes have a read and see what you think, and please correct me if I am wrong.
To think as well, Luke Edwards was all for this man taking over.
Sheffield United are next on his list and he is close to taking over there. Its not the Saudis English football needs to be scared of. Its the Yanks. They will not hesitate to try and bring change to the game.

If this is true it would have been easy for Ashley to sell our of spite.

I am grateful he did the right thing...at least for once.

It should be illegal for someone to buy a football club, Using the clubs own assets, money to buy it. Leading to huge debt.

I agree but it’s not easy to stop. Most businesses borrow using their assets as collateral - whether you do it to buy the club or after you’ve bought it, is a matter of timing and the restriction would be easy to get around.
The government should look into it though. Football clubs have a large effect on not only the economiy but also the psychology in many regions of the country, especially ours.
