I have just discovered via Rotherham past and present that Herbert Austin the founder of the Austin Car Company was the son of the farm bailiff at Wentworth Woodhouse . He had his entire schooling at Wentworth village school and Rotherham Grammar School, Rotherham.
As the poster said "any other town would be immensely proud of this and broadcast it at every opportunity ! He was a very important and successful creator of the British car industry" .
