May day on grove street !

I've read reports we are supposedly interested in Cheltnums Alfie May , 500k , is he someone we should be looking to sign ? We aren't to know yet how good these new lads are , it all seems a little underwhelming at present , we need a WOW signing !! Here's hoping we get one ,,,,,, and good luck to the new signings ,
New "assistant" Coach ? Wombwell Lad Tommy Burrows !

I'm not sure what to think here to be honest.
Underwhelming might sound right at first, but remember we are meant to be struggling financially right now.
And the lad knows Micky Duff well, and did he just have one of his best seasons with Cheltenham, in the league that we are now in ?.
But apparently they want half a mill at least, which I'm not sure about.

Alfie May is 29 today (birthday 2nd July 1993).

Could be a feyt between the Duff Boys and Ahmad's Spreadsheet Boys. Duff may well rate him having worked with him at Cheltenham, where he has scored 38 goals in 102 appearances, 23 in 46 in the Third Division last season. He is not a big bugger at 5 foot 9 inches but clearly can score goals at our level, the Third Division.

Duff needs to be given his wild card choice(s) away from the spreadsheet. He knows a lot more than Conway bringing in Oulare as his own pick.

I have asked for managers to be more involved with who comes in and leaves. Back Duff's opinion on someone he knows and trusts.

To be honest £500k for a lad who scored 28 goals last season in this league to me seems good value .

His age is neither here nor there because this lad is a bit of a Redders , he's got better as he's got older .

I’ve not seen any news of signing May.
He looks decent on YouTube - a goal scoring midfielder(?) - which we haven’t got.

But IMO - if we move out …
    Victor
    Moon - on loan
    Obbi
    Leya - maybe

Then add an older midfield general and two big target strikers then what we have now will do.
If any others leave - which we know is going to happen - then a replacement has to be brought in for each one that leaves.

And we cannot stray away from the recruitment strategy - we don’t want another summer like last summer e.g. Obbi.

Your comparing Oulare who played 18 games in five years with a lad who scored 28 goals last season in the very same league we currently reside in ?

You don't need analytics to tell you that if you provide enough opportunities Alfie May will probably accept more of them than he won't given he's prospered under the very same HC we currently employ .

    It's what's known as " football brains " Nudge .

Which is probably why you can't see it maybe .

I don’t know owt about him - but yes he looks decent on YouTube - but most players do.
Scoring 28 goals he would probably be a great addition.

What I wouldn’t want to see - but very much doubt it will happen - is going back to the head coach choosing which players are targeted to be brought in.

IMO the recruitment methods introduced by the Crynes is a good one and it works.
    1) Statistics are gathered on players for each playing position.
    2) The head coach informs the recruitment team he needs say a left back.
    3) Recruitment team show him the 3 or 4 players identified for that position.
    4) The head coach puts them into a preferred list ie A, B, C, D,
    5) The CEO then targets those players starting with the top preference.

    Exciting times ahead.

I know perfectly well what the model is Nudge and it produces just as many winners as it does losers .

James Cryne doesn't know more about football than Michael Duff and he never will .

One issue with the spreadsheet system is that it doesn't encourage or allow a mixture of experienced owd eeads alongside the young 'uns it identifies. The Hammills, the Sollbauers, the Heliks, the Scotlands, the Mays would nivva gerra look in.

(May is a striker Nudge, not a midfielder)
