From The Vine to the ground.

Just looked the distance up and it’s 2.6 miles according to AA Route Finder.

How do you regulars normally get to the ground from there?

    Any advice appreciated?

    The Vine

No way is it 2.6 miles Mick. I do it in about 20 mins - can’t be more than a mile tops.

You must have the wrong vine, it’s the one on Roebuck St, just off the M5 exit onto the Birmingham Road it’s a 10-15 minute walk and less than a mile.

    Thanks for the advice lads.

I just put the ground address and The Vine address into AA Route Planner and it came up with 2.6 miles so that’s why I quoted that far.

I’ve often questioned the sense in walking from the Vine via the metro line.
My pals say its quicker than the main A41 but I’m not convinced.
This time of year its dark on the way back and I tend to get stuck behind a group of snail paced walkers and it difficult to get past without getting mud on your shoes or caught in bramble bushes.

I walk up roebuck street and over the roundabout, it is quicker but crossing the m5 slip roads can be a bit dodgy particularly for less mobile folks.

I must admit I really enjoyed the walk by the railway tracks, something atmospheric and “old school” about it.

My early days of coming to Albion matches on my own from when I was 14-15 were always by train from Stourbridge to Smethwick West, it just added to the day for me yesterday.

The result was the icing on the cake, it was the interaction with friends new and old that actually made the day.
