Sad news tonight that Pele has passed away. Probably the best player in my lifetime

Very sad but what a life.

    The Muhammad Ali of football.

Better players may have been already such as Messi and better will surely happen in the future but in terms of being “the man” Pele was, is and always be “THE MAN”.

In the pantheon of greats within each sport Pele sits with Muhammad Ali at the top of their sports and I would suggest they sit equally at the pinnacle of all sport in the full history of sport.

    RIP to a true giant.

Very sad news and yet another icon of my youth has passed. I'm in agreement with Mick here : Pele is to football as Muhammad Ali is to boxing. There have been, and will continue to be, many great boxers and footballers but there will always only be one Ali and one Pele. RIP
