Approach Vs Chesterfield in da Cup

Interested to see your thoughts on formation and tictacs on Saturday.

I would like to see a blend of Youngsters and first team/fringe players.

For me, I would keep Palmer and ignore Button exists as GK.

Full backs, give both a rest and play Ingram and maybe Ashworth.

In centre of defence, I would keep O'Shea and go for Kelly or Pieters, maybe even give Semi-on a run out.

I would hope we keep Reach and Livermore away but not sure we will. Would prefer to see either Rogic/Swift with Mulumby as he can run all day long with Gardner-Hickman.
Wingers for me would be Diangana as a confidence booster and another youngster like Jamie Andrews (if not cup tied), but he may well keep Matty Phillips.

Upfront, it would be good to play Cleary with Dike but get the feeling we will play 5 in midfield.

On the bench we should have Asante as he would make an impact, with Wallace, Nico Richards, Dike and probably Grant.

    We will see on Saturday!

Whatever happens I hope we keep our 4-2-3-1 formation and stick with the blueprint rather than p I s s around.

    Cleary needs to start.

I agree on that one! To be fair to Livermore too - he should make an appearance!!! Baggie Bird if Livermore can fit into the costume!

I would make 11 changes and play our reserves. I'm just not bothered one iota about the fa cup, never has a season been so important to get promoted given what is going on behind the scenes.

    I'd go;
    Button
    Ingram, Ajayi, Kelly, Reach
    Livermore, TGH
    Diangana, Rogic, Grant
    Cleary

Or bring in Ashworth and play TGH right back and Reach as a holding midfielder.

I think Rogic needs more minutes. But I'd take him off by the hour mark. And I'd have Dike on the bench and give him 30/45 mins depending on how the game is going, as I think he need minutes too.

I don't want to disrespect Chesterfield, but this line up should be enough to beat them. If it isn't then it will confirm what we already know about some of them.

I'd completely rest Palmer, Yokuslu, BTA, Wallace and Molumby, they are all fit enough anyway, and why risk them with injury?

Don’t disagree with what you are saying but we need to win! Mainly because it keeps the run going and I’m going to the match.

Button - Reach and Livermore give me nightmares but hey they might shine as they have a fraction better quality than non league!

Would love to run into Fat Ron and tell him what I think! Any poor referee decisions will be met with a chorus

I can understand why those three give you nightmares, but if they don't get a game here when will they get one?

It gives our key players a rest and avoids a chance of injury, and it gives our fringe players minutes in case we need to call on them throughout the season.

Seems a no brainer to me to play our 2nd choice XI

As said above it’s all about keeping the formation and getting the fringe players used to it!

Agreed but Ashworth has to start so TGH at RB
Ingram to get some part in the game as well

Be nice to have a cup run but the priority at the moment has to be the championship and aim for the play offs as a minimum. As such it would be daft to risk players in cup games. Agree with others that it does give an opportunity to others hoping to break into Corberan's first team group though.
