Thread: Rodrigo

    Rodrigo

Seems to be performing better this season as he has a more settled role in a front three.

Good finish again and showed some good touches and link up play.

Took his goal very well and the movement beforehand was excellent.

Big game v Villa coming up followed by a run of games that could make or break the season.

Felt for Joffy that he came off when Rodrigo and Wober added more guile to the team - think he would have buried the chance that fell to Joseph or the pen.

Problem is with Rodrigo is that he is genuinely **** and useless, offering nothing and not holding the ball up or linking play but then he scores.

Hard one to judge, an outsider view he is having a great season and stats wise he is but honestly in terms of like general play I still question whether he is right for the team

Will add to that his attitude and passion can't be questioned, he does seem like he is a really good role model and leader for our young attacking talent

And there I was about to agree with all of what you said in post #3!

Sorry, but his attitude stinks, he doesn't track back, almost never makes a run to draw players away from an attacking colleague, has little or no positional awareness (remember the "bum" goal last season which on another day could have been chalked off because he was sauntering back out of the 18yd box?), rarely assists, and makes it very clear that he resents being subbed (never a popular thing but no need to throw toys out of pram, a la Ronaldo).

Have a slightly perspective on him.

He definitely didn’t always suit the Bielsa system as a 10 and wasn’t suited to the man marking he then had to do and tracking back.

He has been one of the beneficiaries of the Marsch system which seems to suit him better where he plays a fluid number 9 role with licence to rotate.

His movement and then positions he takes at times are quite clever and he makes space for others.

Some of the goals he has scored show he has good positional sense and he has very good technique.

I guess it depends what you are looking for from him and he is very different to Bamford but if it is just to score goals then he is saving a decent season. Depends what you are looking for from him I guess.
