Just watched this on Netflix. A fairly engaging story about the struggle to set up a new community bank in Burnley filmed largely in Burnley though the pub scenes were staged at the Duck & Drake pub in Leeds. Definitely worth a viewing.
Something doesn't add up there BT, does Burnley's local riff-raff have enough pennies to make anyone a millionaire, never mind a billionaire ? Real scammers like the virtue-signalling Lefty Bankman-Fraud and his bit coin rip-off, target those with money, not penniless local riff-raff.
Enjoyed the film and it will put Burnley FC and the community on the map all over the world.Love him or hate him he's a genuine guy with feelings for the community he lives in.
Honestly sinkov I've never been 100% certain about our Dave. Entrepreneur definitely, altruistic benefactor to the masses - I'm not too sure.
Anybody daft enough to get caught up in the B-i_t_c-o-i-n rip-off fall into the same category for me as those daft enough to have a brand new untried vaccine jab.
There really is one born every minute. The South Sea Bubble never taught anyone a lesson did it. Greed, avarice and daftness still rule supreme.![]()
Rory Kinnear who plays Dave,is the son of the late great Roy Kinnear,a super actor. He had to go to elocution lessos with a Burnley lass to get the accent and he definitely got it spot on.
I think you will enjoy the film Sinky.👍
From what I have read, he has not made his millions out of the “Bank of Dave”. Rather he has used his millions to try to support the local community where other banks have turned their backs on them. Included in that is acts of charity, like paying for a woman’s IVF treatment.
If the man is to be judged, it is by the good that the “Bank of Dave” has done in the community and not by the fact that he saw a business opportunity in the area of vans and trucks. I am sure that within those enterprises, he has provided gainful employment to many.
