    Flock Of Seagulls guitar sound?

I know we have some guitar experts on here and I’m interested in what they think about the guitar sound of one of my favourite bands.

Paul Reynolds one of the band’s guitarists wrote the guitar parts of many of their songs in his t e e n s and I’ve read many comments on the internet about just how good his pieces of work are.

To me it’s a unique sound I’ve never really heard from any other band and to me it’s a bit of a mystery as to why they weren’t much bigger and for a long period?

I think maybe their lack of looks and their weird appearance probably did them no favours, even in the 80’s…….they weren’t exactly Duran Duran for looks and style!

I found this great version of someone playing the guitar to Space Age Love Song which I really enjoyed.

    Thoughts gents?

Sounds like he uses a delay effects pedal on both "I Ran (so far away)" and " Space Age Love Song" with "I Ran" also using more drive as it sounds more distorted. It was the 80s so could have been something like a Boss DD2 digital delay (still have mine from back in the day!) although this pedal may have come out just a bit later? Best person to ask is probably Boingy.

Btw, aside from the weird hairstyle, you do realise that this lot are Scousers don't you ?😀 Don't mind "I Ran" but not really a great AFOS fan myself even though I can see why people like Reynold's guitar playing. Prefer fellow Liverpool bands The Icicle Works and Echo and the Bunnymen.
