    The Round Church Cambridge..

I was going to put this on the thread that mentioned the Round Church but I couldn't find it so it's a new thread on it I'm afraid

I've been looking on Google Street view of it Frank and it looks to be in a nice area, are there any pubs and places of interest nearby should I stay overnight there? What's the church that's just down the road from it,is that the church that the parishioners moved to when the Round Church stopped giving sermons,it was closed today (RC) which seems a little odd for a Sunday and I'm presuming that as it's got a CB2 postcode it's fairly near the city centre?

The warmer weather are getting closer every day and I'm bored stiff of stopping in, Cambridge is on my to do list

I was just coming on here to post something else. The Round church is in the city centre near the river Cam, its a short walk from there. You will be spoilt for choice for a place to eat.

Theres plenty to see and do, its up to you how long you stay. There is classical music played in the colleges at lunchtime, thats worth going too, as well as the colleges.

Theres Kings Parade and Kings College. Silver street is a short walk further up, you can go punting there, as well as the cam by the round church.

Not far further down is the Fitzwilliam museum, a wondrous place ive spent many hours there. There are countless old churches, its best to look up their histories. There are many museums, an archealogical one, scott of the antartic, etc.

Theres Parkers piece, in the city centre, football was invented there, the game Notts Co play. Students used to play there in centuries gone by, and the final rules, measurements etc were pinned to a tree there, which was adopted.

There is a market open daily. Theres no industry, Cambridge has a unique atmosphere, calm, grown up, sophisticated, its roads are old cart tracks, narrow streets, old buildings everywhere. Look up the places that might interest you before you go.

Further out is Ely cathedral, an amazing structure, Welney wild duck sanctuary, with hides a museum and a restaurant. Bury St Edmunds, chocolate box villages, and the most sunshine anywhere in britain in summertime.

It sounds fabulous Frank,I definitely want to go even for a couple of days,I have never heard of Parker's piece before and thought that "piece" was an autocorrect or summat until I googled it,I'm going to go more city breaks than seaside resorts this year, there's so much to see out there as your post shows

    Thanks 😎

I had a online tour of The Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs yesterday Frank and it's an impressive church and loved the interior and the long flowing arches, those stained glass windows are spectacular and so is the area right behind the pulpit, there's a lot going on there,is it far from the Round Church as I noticed that they both have the same CM2 postcode?

Everything is walkable in Cambridge, thats why bikes are common, there are rental shops, you can rent a bike for a day. The round church is at the other end of the city centre, to walk to olem will take about 15 minutes, its the longest walk you can make. You will pass Parkers piece on the way.

My old primary school is behind the church, i have many memories, of such, its home to me.
