Just wondering...is he our Number one partner for Botman next season...or shoud we be looking for a different first choice CB?

Nowt controversial...just putting it out for discussion.

I love Fab but he’s been done for pace a couple of times lately, so might be slowing down a bit, so yes I would bet Eddie has that on his shopping list. The right back we got from West Ham should be playing a bigger part next season hopefully, we paid a bit of money for him and he’s 21 I think, course not sure how Kraft will fit in after his injury. I like Kraft, another one who’s been Eddied! Interesting and exciting summer ahead! Let’s get past Leicester first though, knowing Newcastle we will leave it till the last game to qualify, never do things the easy way lol BUT that was the old Newcastle, this is a very different beast.

Think Schar is a real unsung hero. We will notice if he isn't in the team. No nonsense, no frills effectiveness, he has an air of confidence and calm that you can't buy.

And he scores a goal. BDB, for his height should be getting 5 a seadon from his noggin.

I’d be surprised if we didn’t bring someone in to back up for / rotate with Schar.

We have BDB who’s another left footer who can rotate in with Botman, if not playing as left back (and I think most of us expect a new LB in the summer).

So another right footed centrehalf, particularly one with a touch more pace we can play against teams that are particularly quick on the counter.

Question is how much do we have to spend and what are the main priorities Eddie has?

We need a defensive mid, but also an attacking player as back up so Bruno can take a break… and I think we need an attacking player out on the right… like Diaby or Maddison… add a left back and someone to back up / eventually replace Schar… that’s 5 first team quality players I think we need and with todays prices that’s gonna be around the 200M mark.

We’ve been very lucky this season with injuries and suspensions (compared to previous years), but we’re still really bare bones in midfield for the remaining games, and Bruno shouldn’t be having to play through the pain barrier (as he has for a while now)… add in Europe next year then we really need bodies but how much do we have to spend on fee’s and wages?

Our defence isn’t as awesome as people think. A class centre back would be high on my summer transfer list. Someone with pace preferably.

Left back and DM would be top of my list.

There’s been a few Twitter threads where people are giving options for a young, right footed centre half. Not even going to pretend to remember them or even to have heard of some of them but I’d expect a long term partner for Botman to be incoming.

The ONLY concern with our CB partnership is pace. We need young players with potential lined up yo replace all of our current starting defenders except, perhaps, Botman.
Schar has been outstanding this season and Sir Edward likes a settled defence.

Potentially could get a few quid for Lascelles to the likes of Forest or a promoted side and bringing in a younger replacement, but I’d envisage Schär not being an automatic choice next season.
