    O/T:- Chat GPT / AI

With AI starting to affect people’s lives and jobs now what are peoples thoughts? Personally I think it’s quite worrying where it may end, for me rules / guidance needs to be implemented but the worrying thing is that it’s going to be used negatively.

PS: Note for Laddo please don’t hijack the thread, I think this could be a really interesting topic.

It's both hilarious and gutting that businesses will try and replace humans with ChatGPT or other AIs. Anyone who has any knowledge of these systems know that they are unreliable and any company that uses it will suffer as a result. They can't accurately recall known information which is telling, there is also bias within the data set used to train them which will mean anyone hanging their colours to that particular flag needs to understand that they are going to be at the whim of the training data bias.

Funny story about AI. IBM have one called Watson, it is exceptional at things it is tasked for, it once diagnosed a rare cancer for a patient that a host of doctors missed, they plugged it into a bunch of dictionaries including urban dictionary and it started insulting everyone! That had to be removed from its learning, can't have it's saying "It's cancer you d1ck"!

Another funny story is the Microsoft chat ot that they unleashed on twitter. Within hours, it was spouting anti-Semitic and racial slurs and firing off conspiracy theories.

What I am saying here is that the AI is only as good as it's training models, a general AI like ChatGPT may seem cool but when you investigate it deeper than it writing you a letter, it is rubbish!

Interesting stuff, and it is a worry that people seem to be jumping in without any back testing or real development of the technology. The scary thing is that some job sectors will be affected massively, and that the AI seems to be on occasions running out of control…

While people have been brain washed into believing the need to become carbon neutral, and all this net zero rubbish. We are sleep walking our way towards the end of the world with other far more serious issues, AI being one of them. At least then the planet can go back to being a rock.

Some time back I listened to an A.I. expert on the Joe Rogan Podcast which was enlightening.

As for Chat GPT, I've seen a few examples used by far more tech savvy friends and my American employers have highlighted it and are introducing measures shortly but bar that happily know nothing.

Both seem interesting topics, the knowledge, use and impact on society is only going to increase with huge risk/reward scenarios.

We humans are not smart enough to deal with AI. In the right hands (scientific, technical) it has the power to do immeasurable good. The wrong hands already have hold of it and "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that." will be the least of our problems.

Business serve the shareholders, in some countries it is even enshrined in law that they do so. Most companies couldn't care less about the customers seeing them as replacable. Customers will in most cases when given the choice between two providers will go for the cheaper one. If companies start using AI and don't pass on the savings to customers they will lose out to those that do.

It will probably be about 5 years away but AI will now do to other industries that automation did to manufacturing. So many careers that involve analysing and processing data are going to be at risk an it isn't only low paid jobs, eg solicitors, accountants, etc
