Thread: Is it time to expand ?

Is it time to expand ?

This has been talked about on here for a bit now and i know some people would rather fill the ground and keep it at 12,000. But seen a lot of talk on some social media site that people aren't buying ST because they cannot get seats together .Just had a gander at the official site and the map with the ticket sales on i counted 550 spare seats from w1 up and including e8 and not that many seats together . I know we can split to away end but with many teams this season filling it what's the point. Is it time to make it 16k ? With 7k Season Tiks this season and record numbers we are looking at most homes game sold out

    Time to end this debate.

We should never expand the ground. We will never attract 16000 to home games.

    Ridiculous waste of money

If we had built a ground with 14-15k in the first place, then I doubt we would ever need to expand.

Yes designs are in place to expand to 16k snd 20k, but I wonder if there are any other options where we can expand without significant changes.

They won't open south stand to season tickets as they can make more money on single sales (either from away or home supporters).

That is where I disagree. Growing up 13-14,000 crowds were the norm.

Do you always want us to be a little club punching above our weight. Show some ambition or what’s the point.

That's a long, long time ago Nardendee

Joking aside it's probably 60 years since that was 'the norm' and leading up to NYS 3-4,000 was more the norm. Admittedly the DVS factor didn't help but if it was my money I don't think I'd be investing in expanding NYS at this point in time.

As for people not buying season tickets because of not being able to get them together/near their mates? If that really is an issue then the club should get creative with offering small incentives to get people to move (a couple of seats/rows) to accommodate newcomers.

If at least half of the home gates are sellouts and we stat up then I think it will happen next summer. Then season tickets could be together, unless only the away end is extended.

Won't happen if it did till the end of this season at the earliest. Fill home seats all this season might then put it up for discussion. Should have been 16,000 capacity from when it opened east & away stands extended.

We are in a difficult position geographically.

Bramall Lane is 10 miles from NYS, Hillsborough is 7 Miles. I live in S61 opposite a park and i see plenty of kids on there playing football in Wednesday and Sheff Utd shirts.
There's a Wednesday supporters club in Maltby and Dinnington hardly has any Rotherham fans. There are also quite a few Leeds fans of Brin's age that yearn for the glory days of the 70s.

I'm not sure how to attract more fans other than incentives for referrals for new season tickets - Refer a new season ticket holder and get a free shirt/Prawn sarnie match et al - Free tickets for school kids is always popular.
