    Question for you cruisers?

Would you spend thousands to endure hell on the ocean?

Mrs Outwood and I have been on a variety of cruises. Two of the larger P&O ships Britannia and Iona, the smaller Thomson Spirit and a smaller still river cruiser on the Nile. Leaving aside locations the most enjoyable experiences were on the smaller ships. I would certainly not be strongly tempted to go aboard Icon of the Seas.

Sadly chris, this is now common on all ships because so many passengers wish to inflict themselves on others in this 'oh look at me' society.
I always look to see if there is Karaoke on any day, where it is and then work out to be in the place furthest away from where it is taking place. As musicians, my wife and I had enough of people wanting to sing with the band when we were playing so Karaoke is a bog no-no.

As far as some of the larger ships are concerned and what they have to offer in bars, entertainments, pools etc. it is a simple answer. If you don't fancy it then don't book! We spent 22 days at sea on a 35 day cruise in February and peple were moaning because it was too many days at sea. When you read the brochure, it pointed out that there were 22 days at sea ------the obvious answer is that education standards have dropped so much that people can't read.

If I was laying the sort of money out needed for a 35 day cruise I'm pretty certain I would know the full itinerary before I booked.

Sadly I could not agree more Sub, for the last ten year we have cruised to the Caribbean in January with P&O, between a 28 to 35 night cruises. But is not only passengers but, the quality of P&O cruises as dropped significantly during this period. When we first cruised the quality and quantity of the food served on board was exceptional, but now it is very hit and miss on our last cruise we were on a table for eight and at least one meal was sent back every night.

We did try to engage the Head Waiter on the subject but he was completely indifferent.
