    Carlisle v Dundee Utd

Bored stupid by being kept indoors by bad weather I decided to set off in search of posters missing in action and headed ‘over there’ and going through the posts noticed how much the Dundee Utd game cost,18 notes is far to much for a friendly a week before the kick off to a new season,Notts played Forest a few weeks back and it cost £14 for comparison and they won the European Cup you know… twice!

    Anyway,anyone going to the game?

I noticed that during one of my few visits over there. I disagree Chalky, though £18 would normally be a bit on the high side this is out ONLY home fixture so nothing has come into our coffers yet. Most supporters won’t have gone to Annan, Gateshead, Chorley etc so paying a few quid for the one game doesn’t seem like a big ask. You need the context.

We’ve played a few “friendlies” against Scottish sides but the ones that stick in my mind were the two in the early 70s (or was it the late 60s?) against Hearts and Celtic. The Hearts fans caused a bit of trouble in the city centre, the Celtic mob turned up pissed and incapable. I don’t expect the same atmosphere tomorrow. I’ll be well out of the way in one of the stands anyway.

A jock? I'm not even Cumbrian

18 notes is a lot of money for a friendly that's just gonna be a kickabout, nobody is going to go in for a 50/50 tackle a week before the season starts,I'm going for a 2576 attendance with 324 away fans and 24 sleeping it of in Carlisle Central police station cells by1pm

    I won’t be going for £18 but I wouldn’t go for £10 either.

I used to go to all friendlies until a few years ago but they bore me to death really, no action or tackling and doesn’t give you a feel for how the sides going to do at all.

Not for me but hope those that go enjoy it.

Very unimpressed; not sharp enough, not quick enough, not skillful enough. No threat up front so Maguire has to bring something to the party. And I got papped by Bumble. Oh, and I sat behind Maguire and he didn’t bother to watch the second half. I don’t blame him really.

Nah, photographed. Though she might have been pointing it at Maguire.

I saw that photo in the News and Star report on the game and tbh griffy it was 100% of Maguire
