Romared Match Thoughts Barnsley v Tranmere Rovers

Killip in goal and give some of these young lads and newer recruits a go tomorrow night in my opinion .

Dallas and Shaw up top , young Chapman and Shepherd .

Let's see what they are like starting a game at 0-0 and not five or six nil up .

Learn more tomorrow night than on Saturday that's for sure .

I'd go full strength personally. Simply because Prem and Championship teams don't take this tournament seriously and I see it as an opportunity to progress and perhaps go far in the tournament. Tha nivva knows, Bradford reached the final as a league 2 club, Burton Albion reached the semis not too long ago as a league 1 club.

It is possible to take a scalp or two and bring some much needed revenue into the club.

We have a home tie against a team in the division below which is ideal. Let's beat them and see how far we can go.

I don't believe Tranmere have ever won at Oakwell in all their history.

Sale window open apparently. Collins comments earlier today….
“ We will see more of those (young) players tomorrow evening because of the injuries, suspensions and transfer business that still has to be done.”

Sumdi willev edda word in Collin's shell like not to keep Barnsley fans informed like that. Don't want to set a precedent.

I think four or five of the new lads will be given a start--Killip, Loparta, Lofthouse, Dallas plus Shaw and Watters.

Should be a lot tighter game than last Setdi

Tranmere goalkeeper Joe Murphy, 41, made his professional debut for them in 1999 – before 13 of the players in tonight’s Barnsley squad were born.

Te.enagers Jonathan Bland, 17, Vimal Yoganathan, 17, Harrison Nejman, 19, Nathan James, 18, and Fabio Jalo, 17, on the bench tonight.

Didn’t see the match - but lots of good comments made about the young lads.
    Bodes well for the future.

I've seen a few Twitter comments suggesting a stronger side should have been played as they thought a good cup run would boost the coffers and confidence. To me it's a nowt cup, and the club probably ran at a loss tonight. It doesn't offer any financial gain for us until the big boys enter in round 3 and then there's no guarantee you'll draw one. Why risk first team players, to injury or a red card, when the league games are a must win to get us promoted. TBF, the young uns, have gained some experience and have done well to get a draw out of it, coming from behind twice shows tenacity. Penalties are a lottery, so they shouldn't be too down hearted.

The draw for the second round tonight. The 12 Premier League clubs not in Europe are in the draw, the other 8 enter in the Third Round.

Barnsley-v-Chelsea or Barnsley-v-Everton could have been a nice little earner. The club is skint.

The club clearly not interested last night so why should the fans ? The club's attitude to this professional competitive game of "We can't be arsed" should have been made clear beforehand to the 4343 fans who attended before their money was taken from them.
