    OT Robbie Robertson

Saddened to hear of his death yesterday. The Band were a seminal force in music making and Robbie was their main song writer and lead guitarist.

Brin and IBIS, of course, loved his ‘The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down’ as a rallying cry for Millers matches on here.

I never saw The Band live but I did see Robbie play in the precursor to that group - The Hawks - when they supported Dylan on his first electric tour. Royal Albert Hall May 27 1966

It's always the way with a thread title like that, you almost immediately go .
    ''Oh no has he/she died"
Didn't imagine he was 80 though.
I'm more aware of him from his eponymous album in '87 produced by Daniel Lanois, about the same time the producer was working with U2.

I'll dust the slbum out and give it a play in his honour RIP

This is my favourite music clip of all time. How good is Mavis Staples?

Agree, a wonderful film with wonderful music. The Band were phenomenal and they lost members far too young. So sad to hear of Robbie Robertson’s death and also surprised he was 80. RIP
