    If you wake up feeling ghastly…..tune to Gordon Astley!

    Remember him on Beacon Radio 303 in the 80’s?

    The bloke did a really funny breakfast show, I always tuned in to him in those days.

    Previously he’d been on Tiswas is you remember.

    Dale Winton was on Beacon in those days, I remember him flouncing into the Star News shop just down the road from the Beacon studios at Newbridge and all the female staff saying what a lovely boy he was.

    He was as gay as a Morris Day parade all decked out in Hawaiian shirt and shorts as I remember.

    Gordon, Gordon, will wipe away your boredom, if you wake up feeling ghastly tune in to Gordon astley. Remember him well.

    Beacon came along a short while after BRMB but l aways listened to Beacon. Both stations were a revelation in that they played popular music all through the night whilst the only other station Radio one would finish about 7pm.
