But but but we don’t spend
Rotherham United have broken their club transfer record for a second time this summer and have subsequently secured the services of forward Sam Nombe, who joins the club from Exeter City for a fee that will remain undisclosed, subject to EFL and FA ratification.

So whose shirt is he nicking?![]()

Read my post again, I realised it read that it was a great signing and could have been misinterpreted to read Wiles was a great signing for Hudderesfield. My mention of wiles was the shirt number Nombe can have now he's left or, are you saying Wiles' shirt number should never be used again? We've had some great number 8's over the years so I think it should stay, the number wasn't/isn't all about Wiles.

I hope I'm wrong but I'm complete underwhelmed
I don't understand why we'd spend a million quid on a similar style forward to Kayode who we're seemingly willing to let go for 200,000?
Yes, Nombe is a year older and in that year, had his breakout season but his record until last year in terms of games played and goals scored was very similar to Josh's career so far
But Kayode was always seen as having promise, by the club and by Ireland - Nombe was let go by MK Dons (I know that doesn't mean a lot as many great players were let go over the years, just like Decca passed up on the chance to sign The Beatles)
So, I guess we're paying for that one year - when Nombe bagged 15 goals in 43 games (plus 2 goals in the 7-0 cup drubbing of Cheltenham's reserves)
My problem with that is that he was playing alongside Jay Stansfield, a real handful who provided a bucketload of assists - if we'd got Stansfield on loan for a year and were giving Kayode another chance, I'd be a lot more excited
If Taylor's track record with forwards didn't consist of signing Hugill, I'd be more upbeat
But if JJ moves on for a fraction of Nombe's fee, then Sam better be very, very good
I still can't forgive Taylor for losing Vickers and getting Dillon - Can't help feeling that Josh would have kept the score down on Tuesday night.....
Vickers might’ve kept score down but it was his choice to leave, we didn’t push him out.
Might be true about JJ but sometimes you’ve got to take a risk, Nombe is known to MT so he knows him more than us, yes a year he’s broke out and why can’t that year carry on breaking out?
Hugill is a better player than Smith was but he’s not getting the help from midfield, he’ also a bad ass maybe some don't like that

because he'll be herding donkeys (Eaves & Hugill) as opposed to playing alongside a thoroughbred like Stansfield
Correct me if I'm wrong, but he hasn't scored this season? (and he's had reasonable minutes on he pitch)
And because it's a move up in level
Let's hope I'm wrong to be so sceptical....
