So Pep Guardiola admits that he's been a letdown as far as Kalvin Phillips is concerned. He hasn't given him the attention and advice that Bielsa did.
Phillips, a fantastic prospect when he was a Leeds player, has looked ordinary and injury-prone after all the millions were spent on bringing him to City.
An embarrassment of riches? I suspect that the way clubs like City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manure throw their money around is the major reason that turns people away from the Premier League. Whilst clubs like Chelsea and Man U give substance to the saying that fools and their money are soon parted, Man City are effectively turning the top division into a one-club affair.
The only place that Guardiola's strategies are properly tested is in Europe. Far from proving himself one of the managing greats, it's hard to see how he could fail at City, except he has done with Phillips.
