Romared Match Thoughts Barnsley v Blackpool

So we hit the measurable 10 games in mark and we face another stern test of our credentials as in form Blackpool rock up at Oakwell .

A change at centre back is inevitable given the injury to Lopata , whether he's going to be missed is debatable .

Expecting McCarthy to come in who I thought had a solid enough game albeit against the kids from Manchester City .

I'm also expecting Russell to come in for Phillips who hasn't looked in good form at all since his return and if Cadden isn't back at left wing back the HC is heading in to idiot mode in my opinion but that's just my view .

    Abart time tha posted this.
What’s up - still in holiday mode ???
Tha needs to get thi finger art.

    Reyt then.
    Agree regarding the HC.
He hasn’t proved himself yet - and in my opinion he’s more like Schopp than he is Ismael.
As in - very slow in moving the ball forward.

We need to get back to the Barnsley Way.
Once we get hold of the ball we should be having a shot at goal in about 10 seconds.

Tippy tappy sideways football isn’t Barnsley.
The players have been brought in to play a certain style and we need to stick to that style.

To add to that we look weak in the middle of midfield.
Phillips and Kane have become weak links in the team.
Portsmouth realised this and played straight through our midfield.
To compensate for that IMO we need to go 3-4-3 with the wingbacks not too far forward.
And with Styles and Russell anchoring the midfield.
Having 3 up front will also encourage the players to move the ball forward more quickly.

Personally I hope he puts Shepherd back in for Lopata, the lad hasn’t put a foot wrong yet!
I can see us being turned over tomorrow unless we get the first goal? I’ve gone for Cole and Rhodes to score and a Blackpool win at 28/1.

Clearly Styles & Kane are currently our best two in midfield so the choice for who joins them is between Russel & Philips, I would go for Russel and leave Philips on the bench where he would be a useful sub as he can play in the middle & support the attack should we be needing a goal , regarding the defence I would probably go with Shepherd & regarding the wing backs I would leave the same pairing as last week & possibly look to switch after 50/60 minutes should we be in a position to do so.

In Neill and Jon we Trust. Whatever they go with is OK with me.

I remember that mantra being trotted out regarding Duff last season. Neill and Jon are not there yet and they are yet to settle on their preferred team. Russell's lack of pace and speed of thought gets exposed against the better teams in the league and regular changes at the heart of the defence do not help.
Blackpool have only lost two games so far and I think it may be yet another case of first goal wins it.

    # Go Well Neill and Jon

De Givegney selected in place of Lopata.
No Phillips or Benson with Theo Chapman, 18, makes his first league start

Line up: Roberts; Williams, de Givegney, McCart; O’Keeffe, Styles, Kane, Chapman, Dodgson; Cole, McAtee.
Subs; Killip, Russell, Cadden, Cosgrove, Cotter, Watters, Shepherd.

Not so sure about that one so fingers crossed for a good one.
