    Counting ourselves lucky

Imagine if one year ago someone had told you - a Notts supporter - worry not because by this time next year you will not only be promoted back into the football league, but riding at the top of it - would you have believed it?
And yet here we are, no longer victims of a gypsy's curse, and with possibly the best manager in the lower divisions, and still we have 'old school' moaners. Look at the whinging and whining on yesterday's Barrow fred. You'd think that rather than finishing up with a draw we had been taken to the cleaners.
I forecast a 3rd place finish at the start of the season and I stand by that judgment (although I admit to wobbling a bit after the Sutton game).
Come on, chaps, let's count our blessings a bit more and go easy on our defenders rather than constantly rubbishing them. By this time next season, if we can keep our nerve, we could well be challenging in the upper reaches of League 1.

Agreed, we should be enjoying our current incredible run of form.

People will always use football message boards to comment on what they think could (still) be improved, but when your team's already top of the league, such critiques of individual players or the team should be constructive.

I think Luke Williams summed it up brilliantly not long after he took over when he told his players: when fans complain, it's not from a position of wanting you to do badly, but from a belief that you can do even better!

Which is the right response. I haven't read anyone moaning about the position we are in (both in the league and as a club), quite the opposite. The "observations" being made are in general just normal football chat. Most people see most things differently.

I think negative observations are still just as valid. We aren't entitled to win any game but when we are on it there aren't many teams who can live with us.

Certainly yesterday we were more off it than on it and I think if we maintained our performance from the opening 20 minutes we go on to win it comfortably. We barely had a sniff of a chance after the penalty.

We've got 4 points out of two games which I would've snatched your hand off for prior to the games. With that said you can't tell me that LW will be happy with the second half against Swindon and Barrow despite the results.

I think we all need to realise that Barrow really raised their game yesterday as they were facing the team top of the league, they won't have played like that all season and still they couldn't beat us. I'm very happy with where we are at the moment and very happy with the manager and players, we just need to improve slightly defensively, anyway onto Tuesday which I'm actually looking forward to as it ought to be a good game albeit with not a lot really riding on the result then of course it's the big game next Saturday.

OK, constructive criticism is one thing but the tone of a lot of it seems oblivious to the fact that these players won back our coveted league status and now have us sitting at the top of L2.
Incredibly, it's of the 'something must be done' 'doesn't deserve the shirt' variety. Spoilt and entitled is too kind a way to describe it, it's unhinged really.

A lot of the comments are just a lack of understanding of modern day football and their theory of how football should be played is stuck in the past. It makes them come across as negative, which I don't believe it is, they just struggle to understand the way in which we play.

"Nemane can't defend" being one of the favourites. Nemane will never be the best defender but he has improved and adds to the team in other areas further up the field. LW doesn't select Nemane wanting him to defend.

Yeah, you're probably right on both counts

In my opinion it's not unhinged, a lot of it is a knee-jerk reaction when we aren't winning. I try to avoid it and be rational, but it's down to disappointment more than anything. It's the same at any club anywhere, it's because they care.

Just human nature - supporters and LW were pissed off that we nearly lost a game that we were in complete controll off, for no apparent reason
I see it as 2 points dropped, others may see it differently. But this game is over and we move on
Personally as i said on another post, we do not know whether this is a good point or not, i always look to see how the competition does in the same fixture, so far Wrexham have done the same 1-1
Its our away form that concerns me most, the losses to Sutton and Colchester are much worse for me, as our competitors will surely do better
    Anyway onwards to Mansfield
