    Qatar

Dont want this thread to turn into a Isreal/Palestine arguement.

But is it true these lads are harbouring the HAMAS leadet and funding it?

If so its a fkn disgrace. These fkers along with Iran care nothing about the Palestinian innocents.

This is no way is me defending or condemning Qatar.
The terrorist actions of Hamas are genocidal. Those responsible should be tried for war crimes.

However, I personally don't know enough about the actual politics of Middle East despite my 5 yrs working at Al Jazeera as an engineer building studios etc. The relationships between each Middle Eastern country, Each member of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) are extremely complex.
Despite my diligent nature & best efforts to educate myself enough to be genuinely feel comfortable to form an respectful and accurate opinion, after 8 years in the GCC I'm still a long way from that belief.

The more I learn the less I know.

Persian, Arab, Mesopotamia, Israeli, Shia, Sunni, Jewish, Maronite & Hasidic Catholic. The whole region, for someone born and raised C of E is absolutely mind bending!

It's easy to pass judgement from sofas in cities where the threat of missiles is not even a consideration.

Allegedly, several of the former leaders of Hamas reside here in Qatar yes.
However, they also host the largest US military base outside of US soil.
Qatar is comprised of 10% Shia Muslim's with a Sunni majority of 90%.
Qatar share's the world largest Natural Gas (LNG) field with Iran.
The 'North Field' spans Qatari & Irani waters of the Arabic gulf.

Qatar has been instrumental in negotiations between Iran & the West on many of the positive steps regarding the Nuclear enrichment programs.

However, with the ridiculously unstable nature of US / European foreign policy with every 4 yrs a new governments coming in 'doing U-Turns', tearing up agreements or neglecting / not honouring obligations.

    Qatar is not 'funding' Hamas.
They provide financial relief to Palestinians, not Hamas. However, the oversight on where that money goes is not perfect.

These are the facts as I understand them.

The attacks on Israel by Hamas will only serve to further destroy the Palestinian people and further drive the state of Palestine into extinction.

I have to agree with Sam Harris on the subject. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6VC...nnel=SamHarris

No, that was me being thick.

Whether they are or not the actions on that day by Hamas must’ve been decided by Hamas themselves. I cannot, for the life of me, see what they had to gain by the atrocities. They were acts of hate and revenge that anyone, with an ounce of sense, could see would bring them no benefit.
I’d be surprised if even the leaders of Hamas ordered the murder of babies. They’re not that stupid.

    Cheers Raga.

My next question is where all the foreign aid has went which meant to develop infrastructure and allow the Palestinian people to be less reliant on its neighbours. Was this creamed off for other nefatious purposes instead of building power stations, schools and agriculture?

Just trying to get a few facts right in my head before forming an opinion.

I am 90% sure they knew exactly what they were doing with the puppet masters in Iran pulling the strings of HAMAS and Hezbollah because Biden was cosying up with the Saudis who Iran also hate by all accounts. Wanted this stopped I think.

It's only going to hurt the people of Palestine. No good will come of this. On either side.

It's a very sad situation. I have to agree with Trump. I just want to stop people dying. There is no winners or loses.

Again the lack of oversight on the funds is shocking. However money don't kill people. The weapons do.

Sad state of affairs. With Ukraine already a blood bath, last thing we needed was this old wounded to be torn open.

I was naively optimistic after the MSB Fox News interview where he spoke openly and candidly about normalising relations with Israel and that Palestine was a very important issue for the Saudis.

However, now that relationship is being called in to question with factions inside the Kingdom at odds with each other.
