Tonali under investigation for illegal betting

The Newcastle board will be up in arms at this news. Having splashed out a whopping £55 Million on Sandro Tonali, he's now been dropped by the Italian Football federation for alleged illegal betting.

Although he's a slip of a lad at only 23 years of age, how the heck did he get himself into such a mess? You would think he's got plans for buying his own property, nice car(s), a quality wardrobe of clothes etc yet he gets into gambling. What kind of wage is he on?

I've said it far too long that players are massively overpaid and the younger end haven't got a clue how to control themselves once they are awash with money.

I suppose someone will ask the question just how much Milan knew of his background before swiftly agreeing a fee with Newcastle back in July. Going by the current trend, he can expect a lengthy ban if found guilty. If he is, would his ban apply to the English League or just European if imposed by the Italian Federation?

Gambling addictions are no respecter of wealth or otherwise - at least he has enough of the former to seek effective help, assuming he wants to deal with it/take personal responsibility. Potentially a great future ahead if he can get through this adversity - likely to get worse for him before it gets better in terms of what is coming his way now.

Could either be the making or breaking of him in the long run

It’s easy to get caught up in any gambling but why would you be stupid enough to bet on your own team and put your career at risk? Well actually it might be different over there, maybe they don’t do the talk

They get told about the rules, they get talks about it and help is there so no sympathy for him

Newcastle will be asking questions I’m sure and rightly so

No sympathy from me - just a call for him to 'man up' and take personal responsibility for his actions and to take the chance now to deal with his demons

What a waste of £55million, he’s let the club down the fans & himself. Howe wants the fans to give him a hug,I know what I would give him & it’s not a hug.
