O/T The BBS And The Sunak Thread

Very unpleasant , does it have to be this way ?

Could we do better whilst disagreeing ?

Does it have to be this polarised ?

Does anyone dare have a view these days ?

The country is toxic right now at least we'd agree on that .

It is the nature of the wider social media Animal, not confined to the limited audience of football club message boards such as BBS. The "rules" appear to be---

Attack the person as much, if not more, than the opinion. Use personal abuse and denigration to "prove" you are always right

No value or respect given to another opinion other than your own. No tolerance of other views.

Attempt to deny the opportunity for any opinion different to the one you hold to be expressed.

This toxicity is now embedded and "normal" on social media.

I fear for the effect all this will have on the generation coming through,

Describes the Tory party and to an increasing extent the labour party to a tee.

    Worlds gone mad.

Is it possible to be concerned about immigration , our borders and the cultural impact without getting called a racist ? .

I'm a pretty committed Republican as an example , I'll debate the merits of the Royal Family with anyone .

Here's the thing right , I was deeply saddened when the old girl passed away , I really was .

During the dark days of Covid I could see the merits of the Queen addressing the nation , I could see it was a comfort to many and that everything would be ok .

That's a tolerance I was happy to give even though I don't agree with Royalty .

I now stay out of anything political or even slightly contentious because as Animal says that you are not allowed to have an opinion about immigration , brexit or our borders etc unless you go with the flow , any other opinion you might give on a forum or any form of social media leaves you wide open to verbal abuse , insults & downright bullying by the masses , its just not worth it & that is why I enjoy it on this forum because as opposed to the BBS , Facebook , Twitter etc we actually by & large have a common interest & that is the reds whilst others use their social platform to impose their beliefs and their agendas on others whether you want it or not & if you do not go with the flow you are left wide open to be publicly crucified & abused , its not worth the hassle .

    Yep - it’s depressing.
Negativity on top of toxic negativity - and most of it generated by social media.
    It’s poisoning people’s minds.
    Things were never like this.
We need to get back to smiling at each other in the streets.
