Swansea v Hull Saturday 25 Nov 15:00
I wonder if we can keep eleven players on the field for this one!
Harsh bookings seem to be the theme for Swans players recently, not helped by poor refereeing, which is a disappointing trend this season.
Hooray then as it’s a welcome return to league action next Saturday after a much disrupted season with International breaks.
Hull are our next visitors, making the long trip from the East-Riding of Yorkshire, just off the East coast and the northern shore of the Humber Estuary. Hopefully it will be a fruitless journey for them and we garner some much needed points to revive our season.
Hull, always remembered for our 4-2 win at the Vetch Field on 3 May 2003 in Div 3, where we just avoided dropping out of the league to the Conference, Exeter taking our place. The Swans team that day under manager Brian Flynn -
Swansea: Cutler, Jenkins, O'Leary, Tate, Howard, Coates, Britton, Martinez, Johnrose, Nugent, Thomas. Subs: Freestone, Hylton, Jason Smith, Richards, Williams.
There were clashes in the Premier League in later years but a change in fortunes find us both where we are today.
Hull, sold for £30m to Turkish media mogul Acun Ilicali in 2022 have been splashing the cash this season with a total of 11 new players brought in and they are in joint sixth place in the table on 26 points.
Swans after an unbeaten run of 5 matches are stuttering again with 3 defeats in the last 5 games, not helped by injuries to key players with the squad down to a bare minimum. Hull in comparison have 3 wins in the last 5 matches.
Swans need to get something from this match before they take on 3rd place Leeds at Elland Road the following Wednesday.
