    Swansea v Hull

    Swansea v Hull Saturday 25 Nov 15:00
I wonder if we can keep eleven players on the field for this one!
Harsh bookings seem to be the theme for Swans players recently, not helped by poor refereeing, which is a disappointing trend this season.
Hooray then as it’s a welcome return to league action next Saturday after a much disrupted season with International breaks.
Hull are our next visitors, making the long trip from the East-Riding of Yorkshire, just off the East coast and the northern shore of the Humber Estuary. Hopefully it will be a fruitless journey for them and we garner some much needed points to revive our season.
Hull, always remembered for our 4-2 win at the Vetch Field on 3 May 2003 in Div 3, where we just avoided dropping out of the league to the Conference, Exeter taking our place. The Swans team that day under manager Brian Flynn -
Swansea: Cutler, Jenkins, O'Leary, Tate, Howard, Coates, Britton, Martinez, Johnrose, Nugent, Thomas. Subs: Freestone, Hylton, Jason Smith, Richards, Williams.
There were clashes in the Premier League in later years but a change in fortunes find us both where we are today.
Hull, sold for £30m to Turkish media mogul Acun Ilicali in 2022 have been splashing the cash this season with a total of 11 new players brought in and they are in joint sixth place in the table on 26 points.
Swans after an unbeaten run of 5 matches are stuttering again with 3 defeats in the last 5 games, not helped by injuries to key players with the squad down to a bare minimum. Hull in comparison have 3 wins in the last 5 matches.
Swans need to get something from this match before they take on 3rd place Leeds at Elland Road the following Wednesday.

A below par display at Ipswich in the last game.
    Another blinkered referee.
A harsh sending off for Cullen after two yellow cards.
A mad challenge by Ashby to gift them their first penalty of the season.
Almost snatched the draw right at the end through man of the match for the Swans, Jamal Lowe.
We’ll have to play better than that to get the win on Saturday.
We are unlikely to get anything at Leeds but you never know with football.

    Swansea 2 (Paterson 17’, Yates 23’) - Hull 2 (Philogene 48’, Morton 68’)
Once again we’ve thrown a lead away and were lucky not to end up in defeat. We were 2-0 and comfortable up to half-time.
But predictably the opposing manager sussed us out, Hull turned the game on its head, scored two goals, had one disallowed, and several missed chances. We’re stuck in 17th place, 8 points from sixth place, 8 points from the bottom three. Not good enough by far under this coach. For all the high profile signings and the expectancy from the fans, this season is falling flat. We cannot hold a lead and our defence lets in sloppy goals. We are wide open on the wings but Duff insists on reverting to a back three in games. Both goals came from unmarked players cutting in from out wide yet we changed nothing and let it continue. We had Patino and Key on the bench but Patino was unused and Key came on in the 86th minute, too late to change anything.

You always felt that we needed a third goal to seal the win
Rosenior out thought Duff second half, saw our weakness out wide and exploited it.

Enjoyable game for the neutrals boys, but very frustrating for us Swans fans.
Our home form is worrying, and it’s not been helped by the growing injury list, defender Ashby the latest on the treatment table.
