    Tactics

Interesting to see the tactics and formation used last night particularly after the half time tweek.
Many fans demand two up top but most teams in this league will pick us off if we play that way. All season we have been wide open down the flanks, I was pleased to see the three amigos addressed that last night and that suggests to me they knew the problems with what Taylor was trying to do.

For me we have got to build on the tactics and system used. It was very Warnockesk in the second half in particular.

The back 4 apart from the first goal look solid, Ayala and Morrison are a good pairing with Hall to come in. Peltier has got to play right back, if Dexter plays it must be in front of Peltier. Fred is preferred by me as he is the attacking outlet on that side but I would be happy with Dexter there is Fred needs a break. On the other side Bramall plays with Reven in front of him until Fergie is fit or we bring someone in.

So the midfield is Fred Tiehi Odoffin and Reven. Tiehi and Odiffin to break up play and to shield the defence, we need to keep clean sheets and stay in games. The one in behind, last night it was Ollie, Odoffin can also do that role, is key, that player must get up to support the forward.

The one up top has to be Nombe as he is more mobile that Hugill and we must as we did in the second half last night get him running the channels to drag the defenders out wide where they don't want to be.

These are the tactics we must use, to try and stay in this league stick with them, drill them and look to be difficult to beat and pick up points.

Be very interesting to see the Hull game, build on this and get a result, and the three amigos might be in busy.

    3-5-2

    Victor

    Peltier Morrison or Hall Ayala

    Dext Odoffin Teihi Rathbone Bramall

    Hugill Nombe

Won't get the best out of Nombe playing him one up top.

I see you are having problems with the old "magic" eye again. We will get ripped apart with that system, there is space down either flank, the central defenders will get dragged out wide and we know what happens.

If we are to get out of this mess we have got to set up to be solid, the aim is to stay in the Championship and get some points on the board. That system might work in league 1 but not at this level the opposition are too good not to pull it apart and we have not got good enough players to combat it.

Tbh we have no option but to play 451 or as yesterday 4231.
All Taylor needed was to find a partner for the full backs and we would have been a solid team
    Warne found it with
Harding and chio Bramhall and Ferguson..
Both bramhall and Dexter have been left horribly exposed this season and as we found out yesterday, stop the crosses and force the teams to play through the middle even the best looking team in the championship struggled

Henson that’s a well written post and agree about support in front of the full backs helping Dex and Bramall out the problem all season has been the space behind the full backs if we play 352 it also doesn’t help that the likes of Morrison and Hall are too slow they are good old fashioned head it kick it centre halves but not quick by any means I think this has been highlighted even more losing Humphries and Blackett at the same time
The key for me is Odoffin he is by far the best in the squad playing that role behind the main striker a no 10 if you like and I’d swap him and Rathbone over so Oli is alongside Tiehi and Odoffin drops back when we don’t have the ball Odoffins physique would also help if the main striker is Nombe and also compliment Hugill too another problem has been the big boot to Hugill who flicks it on/holds it up but there’s no one near him because the 2 wide players are too wide if that makes sense
I believe this formation would help us particularly away from home too and if we can keep Lindsay fit can alternate with Oli and Tiehi

Magic eye it's not seeing what Revan brings to the side also we were still lumping balls up all night that Nombe won't win. I'll be watching on the red button tues at Hull. Wayne Carlisle seems clued up to me leave it to him to employ tactics to put right that wasn't last night.

Noticed in the Man City v Liverpool that Man City played 5-4-1 when Liverpool attacked

I agree Odoffin for me in the 10 role and then Lindsey/Rathbone alongside Tiehi.Have a feeling Rathbone will be sold in January

In my opinion we need someone like Connor Coventry back who we had on loan last season who, whilst he was no Barlaser, he linked our defense and midfield together brilliantly and would allow other players, like Odoffin, more freedom UTM
