    Ewood - Breaking Tomasson's Set Philosophy ?

    Rovers owners ?
In November 2010, Indian company VH Group bought Blackburn Rovers under the name of Venky's London Limited for £23 million.
The VH Group is an Indian conglomerate comprising of companies related to the poultry industry, including processed food, animal vaccines, human & animal pharmaceutical & healthcare products.

What is the Venky's net worth?
As of the year 2022, V H Group was worth a whopping £1.56 billion!
The group is controlled by the family of Dr.B.V.Rao. His daughter, Anuradha Desai, is serving as chairperson since his death in 1996 alongside his sons Balaji Rao & Venkatesh Rao of the group's companies.

What is clear is the owners are prepared to put their hands in their pockets to sustain some losses although losses in the year to June 2021 were reduced by the £17.3m sale of the club’s Senior Training Centre at Brockhall with associated housing to a third party owned by Rovers’ parent company.🤐
In 2021/22 they lost £400,00 weekly but player sales then halved that amount.

Rovers debt rose £11m from £152m to £163m, comprising £144m owed to Venky's, a £12m bank overdraft & £6m loan from the EFL. The owner's debt increased by £14m while the external loans were reduced by £3m as of 8th May 2023. Their overdraft facility is taken out with the State Bank of India.

Coach Jon Dahl Tomasson was appointed 2022. He was in the frame for the Leeds gig, i recall.
Blackburn do like to "dig-in" for their games & play to frustrate, so their game plan is about making their break-away chances count home or away & they are particularly dangerous on corners & free kicks but in "basic-theory" Farke must stop Blackburn’s 90 minute "positional rotations" which they constantly use to good effect !

They always set up as a 4-2-3-1 to play out the ball looking for space to start their transition attacks.

But once in settled possession Rovers usually transition into a 3-2-4-1 shape with Pickering (3) becoming a hybrid left centre-back in a situational back three. Moran (24) & Rankin-Costello (11) or Brittain (2) provided the width with the "wide players" so hugging the touchlines to stretch the opposition.

They'll let us have plenty of possession but we must concentrate & not be suckered into high pressing as they'll do us big time.

This build up & intense press is the "Thomasson-way" developed whilst Coach at Malmö Sweden as this shape allowed Malmö to circulate the ball comfortably, always patiently trying to find the free man.
If we're quick enough to break this build up, we must get to our wings quickly as their full-backs will be caught out high supporting their attack ploy.
Rutter/Piroe will get space for direct runs into the box as their defence constantly 're-groups' into a back four from a three, so we need to mix it, quickly launching balls centrally to catch them out👍

So far Rovers home record states 12 points & their away record is 16 points.
With goals for at 32 (1.68 per game) & goals against 31 (1.63 per game).
Szmodics, ROI midfielder has so far netted 14 times this season & is currently the Championships top scorer.

No agreement reached for a reciprocal pricing deal for the 56 miles trip from ER for our 7,337 travelling army.
    Adults £30
    Age 65+ £24
    Age 18/23 £18
    Junior 12/17 £13
    U12 £9
    20 Wheelchair spaces above prices.

    Blackburn the place?
Throughout its history, Blackburn has been known for its diverse range of industries including textiles, engineering, & aerospace. The town’s location at the centre of the Lancashire cotton industry made it a hub to produce textiles & it was home to several large cotton mills that employed thousands of workers.
In the 20th century, Blackburn’s industries diversified with the town becoming a centre for engineering & of late aerospace production.

Rovers one place out of play offs &10 points behind us have injury issues with a bench of 4 academy grads aged under 20.

Noticed they gave away 2 late goals in their last game against Wendies losing 1-3 after drawing level, so tired legs for sure from their demanding physical Coaches tactics.

Hopefully we'll take advantage of this & get more goals from Crysencio on 8, Joel on 8, DJ on 6, Georgie on 4 & supplying 7 assists to create that bigger goal difference that is so important come crunch time!

As I have mentioned before I really enjoy and appreciate all your match summaries. Enjoy learning about the cities and appreciate the breakdown of the opponents tactics. This match looks tricky.

    Thanks Cherry & Spaldy.
The Championship sure has a decent geographical spread of teams this year travel wise.

Farke & Thierry Henry comments on Leeds progression.

One point that Farke was keen to explain prior to Boro was about our slow "tippy-tatty moments" in possession (that some fans bemoan).

Farke stated he does't want to see his team's youthfulness reflected in how they "manage games".
This is where he is keen to see them grow up quickly & take on the behaviour of their older experienced team-mates.

    Farke had said.
"On the game against Boro there may well be periods in the game that call for "nous" or at the very least cool heads & grown up decisions."

"I wouldn't label it perhaps the key thing or the main thing but it's definitely one of the things - to be not 'over-excited' when you are in the lead & also don't rush it when we need to score goals - to do it in a smart & calm way & also situations when you have perhaps a difficult time in the game," he had said on Friday ahead of that difficult* Boro game.

In France, Thierry Henry, France U21 Coach spoke about Rutters development on French TV sports Canal + recently from the National Training Centre at Clairefontaine west of Paris HQ.
He explained how Farke was demanding more movement from Georgie now to create team space, that Farke now expects him to drop deep to help our defensive press & cos Georgie is often doubled up on by markers he's encoraged to now run wide to make space centrally for JP, so plenty of interchanging off the ball going on to free up spaces for our wide men to exploit.

Henry added it was a pleasure to work with Georgie during French U21 preparation, that he's trying to help him on his positioning in the box to utilise his gift of 2 great feet, body strength, pace & natural stamina. He also added it was easy to help him as he wants to learn the disciplines of the game that often go unnoticed by fans but not team mates of France & Leeds.
He mentions that at 6' 2" Rutter has more pace than he did as a player although being the same height he wants Georgie to be braver in ariel battles & to use his powerful frame to more advantage, in that he should cause defences more trouble in set-piece situations than at present.

Decent assessments for sure from 2 shrewd tactical Coaches developing young players.

23 million in 2010, you could have bought half of Blackburn's housing for that back then

I quite enjoy looking at Totty’s tips.

Joking aside, they are always an interesting read and usually cover stuff I don’t know or, at the very least, didn’t fully appreciate!

    A+

Wonder who actually hit the Lancashire Hot Pot buy-outs "value for money" jackpot since 2010, Calvo ?

Venky's at Blackburn or Trevor Hemmings purchase of Preston North End in the same year ?

Bet none of the owners have property in either place, maybe fancy gaffs at Lytham St Annes next door to yours ? 😉

Some serious 'dosh' in the Banks of those owners families - then & now! 🤑
