    Fellows and Everton?

Anyone heard anything ‘substantial’ about this speculation? Apparently Everton want a Free Transfer deal planning to put him out on loan! Seems nonsense to me…but…

Hi Prando. I have seen this (link below) but I am treating it with the contempt it requires. There is nothing to indicate in the piece this is anything other that tat reporting.

I met Tom briefly after the Leicester game. He had a lot of time for the few Baggies that were around. He came across as a really nice well mannered young man. He is a credit to the club on and off the pitch.

Hi Prando he wouldn't be a free transfer in this window as he's contracted to the summer anyway, I've also read speculation that he is about to sign a new contract with us anyway, maybe his agent trying to squeeze some more money out of us, if Villa declared an interest I would be worried.

    Thanks.
I did think it strange that Everton was the alleged party.

    Thanks OB.
I picked the ‘info’ up on an independent WBA blogger.

These young lads who always come across as been very nice need to be sat down with more experienced heads and shown the evidence of the Saidos and the Izzys of this club, among others and what happens with bad agents.
They need to be aware of all the pit falls in their chosen careers. Sometimes hard work and perseverance are a better pay off in the long term then the fools gold of short termism. It is possible to remain nice without sacrificing your intelligence.

I would counter that by saying the majority of the time its better to look short term than long term as a young footballer. There is no guarantee you will make a long term career out of football even if you are showing promise as a young player.

If you're a youth player playing for us and getting in the 1st team, then your first contract will probably be in the low thousands per week. If you get a move to a big premier club, you could be 3 or 4x your salary (or more). It can literally set you up for life. Fellows is a great example of this description.

And guess what, if you don't make it at a top premier club, you're probably coming back to championship level to try again.

I have no qualms with any young player going to earn more elsewhere and trying to better themselves and earning more. It is a short career. Every fanbase seems to have sour grapes when a young player does that.

Spot on. Ask Ferguson if he made the right call doubling his salary with Palace. It’s been life changing considering his injuries.
