…..especially the back end, when I’ve been mainly absent from here for a few good reasons. Sorry about that and I hope to get my eye back in soon. First we sold the house and went house-hunting in the Welsh borders. Then the sale fell through and Mrsgriff’s dad fell ill which took a month out of our lives, but at least I managed to sell the house again before I joined her in Devon. We had another quick recce before deciding we were looking in the wrong area, then we buggered off to Canada for a fortnight. Once back we did more searching and eventually bought summat in Gloucestershire. The more we’ve packed the more the completion date kept getting put back, then we got flu. Anyway, it all happened today and we’re moving in tomorrow, which is why I’m writing this from a hotel in Gloucester; just me, Mrsgriff and the cat.
I’ll pay more attention here from now on, just so I long as I can avoid owt to do with curtain-poles and soft furnishings.

Hey Griff…
Hope you have found what you are looking for… out of sadness from loved ones comes a new chapter in your lives…
All the best in your new abode & be thankful it wasn’t in Rochdale…. 🐶 hates 🐈 them 😀
Bloody hell Griff, that's all a bit dramatic. House moving is far too stressful for a man of your age. Now I understand why your Predictocomp entry was submitted abnormally early this week.
Presumably this is aimed at being nearer the family. Let's just hope your permanent presence in the vicinity doesn't prompt then to move again!
Hope all works out as you would both wish and that Gloucestershire proves to your liking. In due course you can no doubt clarify the difference between Gloucestershire and the Welsh Borders . I thought they were one and the same thing?
Also hoping the cat takes to the new environment. Keep him/her in for a week or two or I'll be looking out for a cat with a northern miaow heading North on the M5/M6.
You will be a prime candidate to join London Branch now and presumably seeing more away games than home, although Cheltenham next week is an ideal start. Just like a home game.
Hope all goes well with the move and that by this time tomorrow you are both settling down with a glass of red.
All the best mate.
Thanks for the good wishes lads.
Alf - sorry, wrong side of Gloucester.
Howoldboy - right in every respect, we were looking near Monmouth and the northern Forest of Dean which are the borders as we saw them, now we’ve bought in Newent, a bit further away. The cat is in a cattery until Monday then he’ll be an indoor boy until we can fathom out where to put a cat-flap. We might have to give up on that and give him his own key. London Branch - I was one of the first members in 1973, did the newsletter, joined the Committee and was Chair for a few weeks until we moved to Bristol in ‘87. I’ll leave them in peace now. As for Cheltenham, the lad has already got tickets for me, him and young Jack in the away end, while his wife, her brother and her Dad will be with the home support. Bring it on.
BDB - ta mate.
How are you settling in and will your drink of choice be half lager and limes now?
Saw you were back talking to Frank, nice one. I reckon I’m now more the sherry and cravat sort. We’re in, though I didn’t manage to avoid the soft furnishing, I’ve been landed with the curtain pole and blind gig. One thing though, the weather’s noticeably better down here.
Aye,somebody had to keep Frank company over there and at least I got him to talk about some other stuff than Bonner and Cambridge so I feel my visit was a success for his minds wellbeing
