    Leeds Utd

Furthermore, Leeds currently owe £190 million in outstanding credit from player purchases and £73 million of this colossal figure is due at the end of the month. Energy drink brand Red Bull bought a minority stake in the club last week which will certainly offer a welcome boost of cash but the hierarchy may still need to sign players for relatively low fees this summer as they look to offload a number of high earners in the squad.

I think it’s good to see that a lot of us are working on a strained budget, just shows how hard it is to keep afloat, that sustainabilty versus ambition struggle. We did great last season considering the uncertainty behind the scenes.

No club would be on a strained budget if they spent over 40 million on players like Grant, Grady and Dike and offer dross like Adam Reach ridiculously high contracts. The problem is our own making!

That’s the risk you take. All three of those could have been worth the money but they fell short. Dike through no fault of his own. £40,000,000 is what others are paying for 1 player and even then there’s no guarantee it will work out. We’re pretty low down on what we pay for players. Good recruitment is really important I agree, totally but even that can be a lottery.
