Come on Thomas. Stop with this enjoying your holiday thing. What are you drinking? I'm a few Staropramens in now and looking forward to the game.

In ”The Golden Lion” now with a pint of St Austell Hicks waiting for the game to start. Had a few pints of Tribute before in the ”The Port Gaverne Hotel” (where the manager comes from, yes, Slovakia).

Superbly, thanks Mick. A night in Winchester and one in Plymouth before arriving in P Isaac, and before that 3 nights in Bruges, one in Ghent, and one in Bremen. Now 3 weeks in P Isaac, followed by one week in Dorchester.

I’d like to apologise to you on behalf of the nation for inflicting such a vast amount of coverage of England matches.

Oh….and for the number of tw as driving around with flags sticking out of their cars like we’ve just won a war.

    Condolences on my behalf.

A very good friend of mine and a fellow Baggie lives in Sutton Poyntz about 3 miles from Dorchester. It's a quintessential English village with thatched houses, a duck pond and a fine pub (I've had many a pint of Proper Job in there)

If you've not been before two quirky pubs in Dorchester but check the opening times.

https://www.convivialrabbit.co.uk the landlord was from Walsall.

and add to your extensive English by discovering what a blue raddle is when appertaining to sheep.

Couple of excellent museums in the town and The Nothe Fort in nearby Weymouth has just won Visit England's best Small Visitor Attraction 2024.

    Hope the sun shines.

If you want a drive with some spectacular views

    https://www.dorsetcamper.com/jurassic-drive.html

Make sure you go via Abbotsbury on the coast road and not the A35.

Or get the X53 open top bus from Weymouth to Bridport. Home to Palmers Brewery. The Ropemakers in the High Street serves a good selection of local ales.

Visit the Isle of Portland. You can drive across the causeway. At the top of the hill park at The Heights Hotel and take in the view of 18 mile long Chesil Beach. Google Chesil Beach sunsets! Drive on to the end of the island to Portland Bill. Can't recommend the pub but the cafe has the best views, does a decent crab sandwichand and is licenced.

All of this is within 30 mins drive of Dorchester.

I could live here but it's a bit too far away from the likes of London and Brighton or anywhere else and I'd never get my wife away from the south east.

Worth a visit if in Dorchester are the homes of the English author Thomas Hardy. Hardy’s Cottage in Higher Brockhampton, near Dorchester, is his birthplace and Max Gate, Dorchester, was his later home until his death. An interesting part of England. Enjoy your trip, Thomas.
